The incompetence in the world that is likely the underlying cause for this, is a serious cancer that is ruining our society. We need to speak out even against what seems like lesser issues, because we normalize that behaviour until it perverts everything.

They are nerfing the models for most of us plebs and will indeed offer more services. We're already seeing the start of layered services where you don't get to even access the model directly, such as the various security scanning tools.

They don't want the main actually powerful model out in public, but they do want to tack on extra cost for the same queries while also limiting what everyone can actually use the true frontier (internal) models for.

We see the same happening with the math work-- this research is done with internal models, not something the general public has access to. More will follow.

They have been nerfing the models for us plebs for a while now. Anthropic does the same, and if the Chinese models aren't doing this already, they will eventually.

It's hard to prove, but I'm personally extremely convinced of this. The point of AI (from the perspective of these companies) is to solidify and centralize their control of the economy and the world.

Still waiting for the autonomous charging arm that you aren't supposed to bend down near.

They were (and are) a huge mistake. Not everyone knows that these Biscoff cookies contain cinnamon! A large number of people dislike cinnamon, and most sources of it contain heavy metals. There's also some early research to show that it causes cancer, although the quantities in one cookie are likely not going to hurt you as much as the radiation from the plane you're on.

Hope they get rid of these, it's always a hard pass for me, and I've seen so many others just skip or bin them after one bit.

Where's the source code?

If this had open source firmware, I think I know a lot of people who would be interested, but I can't seem to find out if that's true or not and where to buy one.

This is not about forges, it is about the repo I have in a folder on my computer. The sha1 hashes shouldn't go away. Yes the forges also need to support this.

Came to say something exactly like this... The old sha1 handle needs to be still available in the same way an HTTP 301 redirect would work.

> Submodules are a mistake.

Someone started this FUD a long time ago and it has worked. Instead of using an elegant mechanism, project have built inelegant wrappers on top of git like go.mod which are actual mistakes.

This means, if you migrate your repo, every single commit message that contains text like: "please see commit <sha1>" will now be broken.

This will be a train wreck. I hope they don't release before adding compatibility modes to keep the existing sha1's around in the database.

The age limit shows this is only about encouraging reproduction and is an FU to lonely people.

I would have been totally interested in the snapdragon if Linux support was good and the hardware wasn't old at this point. I'd like a 24h laptop!

Nah, I want serious all-day battery life.

I'd buy one because I want a Lenovo Thinkpad with an onboard ethernet port and really good battery life for Linux.
