> Humans still write the code, we just do it using AI tools.

That's literally the opposite of what TFA quotes in Proton's "Engineering Manifesto"

> Your job has fundamentally changed. It is no longer to write code, and LLMs are not here to help you write better code faster. Your job is to help the LLM write better code faster

It goes on to say

> Every engineer is now a team leader, a manager, and your direct reports are the models and agents you use.

They don't want their engineers and programmers to write the code. They want LLM handlers.

When I read stuff like this, or how China is apparently drilling toward the core, I just can't help but wonder (as a layman) what kind of rippling effects harvesting this heat without truly knowing how many physical properties of the world or ecosystems depend on it. The same with windmills. Like it's nice that these energy sources exist and can be used, but when we slow the natural weather fronts with windmills, or we siphon heat away from the core faster than it might naturally permeate, what kind of side-effects is that causing? I'm just very leery of tampering with the forces of nature without extensively exploring and making predictions about possible outcomes

Good on CA. The "moral decline" in the US is distressing to say the least. I don't consider myself conservative on many issues, at all, but I never would have guessed that we'd be doing mainstream advertising for prediction markets, having slot machines in all the laundromats and even full-on slots arcades as a stand-alone business (not to mention all the vape shops, chewing tobacco advertisements at the gas pump etc).

In 2026 we all know this stuff is bad for you, and we'd previously shunned the use and outright banned the advertisement of it - why are we opening the gates so that the next generations can get hooked after we'd somewhat successfully beat it back??

> If you have a shitty operator, risk of over exposure increases.

Good thing border control isn't full of rejects and nonhackers from the military and real law enforcement \s

The problem isn't advertising, it's data harvesting and sale. Ads used to rent space on websites - totally reasonable. The whole industry around the purchase and sale of user data is what needs to be banned.

Hence why developers continue to make AI integrations, adtech etc, despite the natural adverseness to it.

That doesn't happen magically, and "spamming" protein can definitely damage your kidneys.

I'll go a little further and say "corporations are bad". Maybe we don't need to expand beyond liability. It's often quoted: "a computer can never be held accountable. therefore a computer must never make a management decision", but why is it OK for corporations?

I've played a few, hosted one for a while. It's just missing the x factor. And that wasn't the game itself, it was a perfect storm of early MMORPG, huge player base, strong RP player base that managed to mesh well (enough) with PvP players, and moderators that seemed "game" for most anything the players did/wanted. You can't recreate that (at least at anywhere near the scale) - the players are different, the expectations are different, the cheaters are better at cheating etc etc.

Well that was a downer. Hopefully as jobs get fewer and harder to come by the industry will see the appeal of organization. The big argument was always the pay-cut, but it seems like that's inevitable at this point anyway

Can you elaborate on the extra courses? What are America's developers missing (I imagine ethics is glaringly missed)?

What's the current state of licensing AI generated code? If this was the product of AI, wouldn't it be public domain and not eligible to be a MIT licensed?

Isn't that exactly what it is?

Why is that? Did you have an issue with how it's set up? Or does it not do enough out of the box and leaves security for the administrator?
