I have the Idea Tab (not pro, 10"), and yeah there's a lot of junk.

The only way to keep these usable is to not use the google sign-in, disable as much as you can, sideload F-Droid, and install a lightweight launcher.

    >Just as US institutes would claim that China is responsible, by the same token the argument works on any other lab too - yet the media did not present in that way. Ever. That's not accurate reporting; that's an attempt at victim blaming.
So your idea of accurate reporting is to apply whataboutisms?

Yep. Can't get a drink in NSW without seeing people wasting their pay check on the pokies.

There's likely a cultural element to it as well regarding how we admit mistakes and correct ourselves.

With how blame-avoidant western individualist culture can be, seeing something "admit" doing wrong so quickly, and so emphatically, could be uncanny valley-level jarring.

>is "you are absolutely right" wrong somehow?

It makes sense in English, however:

a) "you are" vs "you're". "you are" sounds too formal/authoritative in informal speech, and depending on tone, patronising.

b) one could say "you're absolutely right", but the "absolutely" is too dramatic/stressed for simple corrections (an example of sycophancy in LLMs)

If the prompt was something like "You did not include $VAR in func()", then a response like "You're right! Let me fix that.." would be more natural.

It's almost like an uneducated public is easier to control..

Praise anti-intellectualism, change the media landscape so that everything is either consumed through short bursts of dopamine or presented in a way to manipulate you, and you'll have a society of people who are driven by their emotions with a very short memory.

As for the UK OSA, I think people are waking up to the fact that politicians will do what they want, use the enemy of the day to justify it, and group you in with that enemy if you oppose them, but I'm afraid without significant change to the system that this will continue to occur.

They got incredibly lucky with IBM choosing the 386 for the PC platform and have been riding that wave ever since.

Itanium was a flop from bad business decisions IIRC. Note too that x86-64 was developed by AMD, and Intel licensed it from them.
