Never has it been brought so clearly into light how brilliant I am, than in correspondence with Gemini.

Moat is whatever thing is stopping the next guy from simply drinking your milkshake. People conflate "I could smash this out in a weekend" with "and therefore could also build a multi-billion dollar revenue stream in [counted in months]".

How? Nothing stopped cypherpunks in the 90s+ from meaningfully innovating in the space. Table stakes entry for competitive LLMs runs to nation-state budget-levels. There will be no film about 3 genius kids up-ending the trillion dollar oligopolies - they're already working for A\ or OAI.

Capital has eaten software.

Our 401ks turn on this actually being true. Otherwise pop.

Agents.md is just a prompt pre-pend. This is like asking "do prompts help coding agents".

I am shocked, shocked to hear that there are ulterior motives behind age verification and that the stated benefit is in fact exactly the opposite of what happens irl. Shocked!

Though this is how it will stay, and it won't be changing back. Anthropic has understood clearly for a while that they need to capture the stack. They will subsidise Max for as long as they need to do this. All other off-stack usage will get pushed into per-token billing.

What makes it a profession is not just the certification, it's the burden of responsibility for consequences. Your lawyer, accountant, and real engineers carry "we need insurance for this" level of risk in their work, all the way up to "can go to prison for getting things really wrong".

Until and unless software is held to that standard, software will never be engineering and always just a craft that can be performed to any or no standard.
