You can use switch 2 offline, with physical games. Nintendo does not require the console to connect to the internet.

Indeed it requires software updates for some games; but even that is the most “innocent” in console space.

Nothing can beat a linux handheld + drm free store in terms of freedom. But apples to apples.

“All games are essentially rentals” applies the least to Switch 2 among consoles.

Among all gaming platforms, it’s only behind DRM free storefronts like itch.io and GOG.

Unlike PS5 or XBOX, not all switch 2 games require downloads or day 1 patches.

What do you mean “it would have been marked as hatred”? It _is_ hatred, bigotry, racism, etc. Trump isn’t shy about showing how racist and hateful he is.

There were clusters using PS2 and PS3 systems. Clusters using old Android phones wouldn’t be novel

There are inconveniences, but some protection is better than no protection. Trying to protect your privacy online is not a zero-sum game.

The thing with Chinese AI labs is that you don’t need to trust them. They publish the models, you can run them on-prem or rent a beefy VPS.

It’s not an enormous effort if you plan for it. They clearly knew about this, and could’ve afforded to plan for it. Their whole shtick is locking users in, and DMA is their nemesis.

Current AI hype is built on marketing and PR, not capabilities, and has been from the start.

I still remember Sam Altman “begging AI to be regulated” and AGI being “some thousand days away”.

Breed faster horses and hope one will birth a locomotive.
