These are absolute must haves, but I really wish parallel didn’t collide with the super useful GNU/parallel.

I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s shipping containers or even privately owned houses, filled with optically controlled or autonomous drones, sitting near high value infrastructure around the world. Mirroring those Ukrainian trucks.

Imagine when something hits us-east-1 as part of the opening shot of a major future conflict..

I love that he’s still doing that - he did the same thing back then: selfies, lots of fun little notes on the packaging, stories about taking the package by bicycle to the nearest post office, and even assurances about his neighborhood’s political leanings (overwhelmingly anti-Bush).

Such a fun and enthusiastic guy. I’ve one of his klein bottles from like 20 years ago, think he still sells them.

The main issue with evaluating content for what it is is how extremely asymmetric that process has become.

Slop looks reasonable on the surface, and requires orders of magnitude more effort to evaluate than to produce. It’s produced once, but the process has to be repeated for every single reader.

Disregarding content that smells like AI becomes an extremely tempting early filtering mechanism to separate signal from noise - the reader’s time is valuable.

High speed finance is msec and below. Fastest publically known tick to trade is just shy of 14 nanos.

Timekeeping starts to become really hard, often requiring specialized hardware and protocols.

Built in KVM is not that important any longer, with all the new options for adding an external one. gl-inet comet kvm, nanokvm pro, jetkvm, etc.

You can use more than one key you know.

Keep the private key you actively use in the secure enclave. The system you actively use is most at risk.

Keep a secondary offline private key as backup. You can generate and store it in a secure location, and never move it around. Airgapped even if you want. You could even use a yubikey or other hardware for the secondary key giving you two hard to export keys.

Distribute pub keys for both of them.

Best of both worlds?

I remember a few years ago when our niece came to visit. One evening, we started watching a movie on Netflix together.

We only made it halfway before bedtime, but since she was coming back in two weeks, we decided to save the rest for her next visit.

Two weeks later, she returned, bouncing with excitement to finally see how the story ended. We opened Netflix, ready to hit play - and lo and behold… the movie had vanished from the catalog.

Be a cool uncle, be a pirate.

No, it looks nothing like a reinvention of torrent.

Frankly, it’s so good I use emacs just for git even when coding in other editors.
