Neural network is a method of compression. Lossy compression. What the AI companies want to push constantly is misconception:

  This is not algorithm
And

  They think
They are juggling between a personification and de-personification of their models according to what they need at the moment. So when you're hacking using fable, fable says you hacked.

When anthropic wants to gain money they say "our model hacked and we do not know why (damn it's so good)"

When using publications, "they have been used for learning" (not algorithmic compression)

Etc

If I were to create a RAM price-fixing cartel I'd first push manufacturers towards RAM soldering so the old ram cannot be used anymore

I see this as nothing else but an opportunity. Just start asking students about their homework. Not being able to answer about the homework should be punished with seize of the studying...

Hmm Fortran example is so positive... It means that in 2090s there will still be programmers hired to understand the code created by AI in 2020s

To be honest, no company wants to lower their income. This is institutionalised (i.e. the stock holders will throw you out if you decide to lower the income)

That's why they are selling us new cars instead of converting the old ones to electric or semi- electric drive. The amount of CO2 emitted on the new car creation and shipping is tremendous. The same with phones, washing machines etc. And now AI. It should be done on optimising (the software, the reliability), not creating new and throwing out the old ones

Paywalled...

My thoughts: I could pay a subscription that would be divided by the portals I visit. For example I don't want to pay 5$ subscription to new Yorker, 5$ to BBC 5$ to times, 20zl to Rzeczpospolita etc because it would take unreasonably large amount of money. If I could pay 100zl-20$ and use them to see some articles in those portals, I would be happy and I would pay, because now I just lick the window and go home

This thinking never leads to anything good. We got to stand for our right before it's too late and everything requires hacking

The architecture has been changed fundamentally. AFAIK the old windows 2000 had flaws beyond repair. On the other hand the UI overlay build on UI overlay built on UI overlay, making everything a html page etc was terrible direction
