As if engineers, especially those writing software to handle financial transactions (which are usually in regulated businesses), don’t know how to write conformance tests with invariant cases.

Good luck with that.

Maybe not Bitcoin in particular, but other cryptocurrencies might do. Consider that for a very long time (and possibly still), ransomware attackers were demanding payment in Bitcoin, so these traceability considerations might not be as dissuasive as you might believe.

Bitcoin’s price volatility also seems no worse than the possibility of losses of cash due to theft.

The real value in crypto is for storing black market currency. Before, it had to be stored in cash where it could be stolen by other criminals or confiscated by law enforcement. (Watch Narcos if you want to see a pretty good dramatization of how Pablo Escobar buried his money in caches around Colombia.) If Bitcoin was around at the time, Escobar certainly would have used that instead.

It does have speculative value, as well, but I suspect that if you subtract speculative investments, the remaining total market cap of crypto is the value of criminal profit.

And how might you solve this problem? Consider that nobody else has to date.

The more you learn about CPU design and the tradeoffs involved across different performance dimensions, the less surprised you become over time. :-)

Historically speaking, the Pro/Max versions of the chips have become available at around the same time the next-generation base chip does. So, M4 Pro/Max shipped when M5 shipped, M5 Pro/Max shipped when M6 shipped, and so forth.

I'm curious as to how the touch feature will work (if at all) with privacy screens.

If the remote machine doesn’t have the right support for your terminal, what do you suggest?

Minor nit: in a legal context, the word is "quashed" - e.g., quashing a subpoena.
