If you go into London now, so many homeless people have those card readers as people are just using their cards or mobile pay. Definitely see the change after the pandemic where they advertised cash in supermarkets to be the spreader of the virus.

I have been using yubico with chrome for the past 5 years and not encountered an issue like this. Check your browser settings as I believe there might be a policy in chrome to delete cookies after a period or upon exit.

Otherwise maybe contact yubico support or open a ticket on the Google chrome forums, they provide pretty useful advice.
