I'm not a competitive programmer and won't be one, but this book seems to be a very practical, hands-on intro into many useful algorithms. Really good!

LLMs are a game-changer. You work more for less money.

You build the system, the factory, that presumably is looking at your task tracker, writes and reviews design docs, reviews code, etc. And this system, in turn, writes software for you.

I don't know how that's supposed to work, but to me it's the most autistic replacement of the actual team that one can come up with.

It is revolutionary. Programmers are paid less to work more.

Computers have become appliances.

This is almost exactly what Jordan Rudess is doing now with some folks from MIT or Stanford right now. Google his interview with Rick Beato.

I recently found out that I'm the most miserable when I'm rushing.

If something happens, and I allow it to break the flow of things, I become stressed and worried and time flies. When I allowed myself to simply exist for a week, without a crazy planned-in-advance vacation, the week felt like a month. No joking.

Where this urge to always rush comes from is a good question. I imagine it's very much cultural, we're expected to rush and be busy.
