I liked the book, so did my colleagues, and we even had a meetup to discuss the book on how to improve the legacy codebase we had inherited.

Don't you think it is odd that the BBC led with this feature, for what would have been a critical failure of infrastructure for a Western nation?

Losing electricity causes significant disruption, emergency generators have to turn on for hospitals, the transport system stops.

The BBC is not what it once was, so assume it is no better than any other outlet in wanting to create a narrative.

The actual reality on the ground for many people would have been far from the whimsical event the BBC portrays.

> Adding the pungency of ginger is a good way to resist the taste-masking effects of 80 to 85 decibels of cabin noise

I think they meant to say "cinnamon", biscoff do not contain ginger

> "It's raining outside" is the most famous example. This sentence has no subject at all, and yet native English speakers feel a strong need to place "it's" at the beginning.

German: es regnet French: Il pluet

I don't see why English is special here.

If you are interested in Mario 64 have a look at Kaze Emanuar's YouTube channel.

https://youtube.com/channel/UCuvSqzfO_LV_QzHdmEj84SQ

From Wikipedia:

> Starting from 2022, Emanuar would begin uploading videos discussing Nintendo 64 technical details and optimization techniques,[15] along with outlining Super Mario 64's bugs, technical shortcomings and poorly optimized features, fixing them in the process.[16][17][18][19] He would heavily rework the game's source code in 2024 and use it as a base for his collaborative ROM hack Return to Yoshi's Island, which resulted in increased frame rate and improved graphical fidelity compared to the original game, even when running on the original Nintendo 64.

It has happened a few times in history, e.g. the French revolution and the Bolshevik revolution.

However once they killed the "elite" or "oppressor" they couldn't stop the killing, and kept redefining who the "oppressor" was, until it was anyone who had one more cow than the rest.

I love that that the literal English translation of the German word for logistics leader "Nachschubfuerhrer" is "shove towards leader".

I think that is far to harsh actually.

It has some interesting ideas and architecture.
