I own an EV while living in an apartment building with only an outside parking spot and with no EV charger at my spot, and it’s so fine. Granted I only do 1000km per month on average, but still - every other week I just leave my car parked overnight at an AC charger near my apartment complex and I’m covered, while the cost of ownership is much lower than a typical ICE car

While I overall agree with the point of this post and the post being cited, I disagree with the premise that you need to be able to actively recall facts like this. The theme I personally use is quite toned down, but it does use different colors for variables, keywords, arguments, type names, and a few other classes of tokens. I don’t consciously think “hmm, what color is an argument” to look for those in my code - I just see them, have learned them over the years, and it’s muscle memory at this point, and helps me read the code. Just like I can’t remember the code to my apartment building, yet I type it in multiple times every day.

Given xip has been deprecated for a long time now, yet still is the format Xcode is distributed in, I highly doubt hidutil will ever disappear from macOS. Apple just won’t really update it anymore, just like they haven’t changed xip (not like hidutil has seen any significant changes, but still)

I know at least part of the API is fully compatible with GitHub so chances are as long as you can specify custom URL base and auth token, there’s a chance linear and other integrations will “just work” too. E.g. I had migrated a custom action which interacted with the PR it was run inside of using the GitHub JS client, and I didn’t have to change a line.

Forgejo actions are by design compatible with GHA. Obviously if you still depend on github to get reusable actions you’re just as dependent on GitHub being up as ever, but you can very easily migrate or mirror GitHub repositories to your forgejo instance and in most cases migrating the CI requires close to no changes. Not all features are supported, but I haven’t had the need to make any changes to my actions, and they’re continuously making improvements so compatibility only goes up

Except social media as a concept isn’t the issue. I’ve been bullied before social media was mainstream. A little later in life, when internet as a whole was majorly taking off, it helped me actually socialize. I met people some of whom I’m friends to this day, but more importantly - I could meet people to go out with, to talk to.

Should we ban schools then? Because school grounds are famously place where the most bullying, especially kids 5-13 (which you highlighted yourself), is happening. Or maybe ban real life interactions? Because you can meet someone who will bully you or be of bad influence?

We both know that’s not the right way, just like banning social media is not solving any problems. It’s just a convenient argument to introduce internet-wide surveillance, as well as to take away any autonomy or rights kids may have. Instead of investing in moderation, and actually scrutinizing big tech, which is the real cause of more bullying, shorter attention spans, and whatever else people say is wrong with the kids these days.

It’s not more painful because there’s plenty of alternatives for activitypub instances, but only one bluesky. And you’re meant to either host your own instance, or pick one that aligns with your views and interests, such that the bulk of moderation is handled for you in terms of which instances you federate with etc.

You’re either making a bad-faith argument on purpose, or on accident. What you’re saying is false equivalence. Leaving Claude overnight is in no universe comparable to getting some code running yourself, even if that code is 5 lines of python, with a bunch of libraries doing all the heavy lifting

This is what he said though. I don’t doubt he could code if he put his mind to it, but in the video he shows the code that’s talking to the bike, displaying stuff, etc, and says it’s all AI generated because it’s outside his area of expertise.

Except with an automatic lawnmower you’re still doing the work yourself. In the video he literally said he left Claude overnight. He did no reverse engineering and no coding

I hate how he’s doing the kind of project a ton of people would like to help with, for free and on their own time, yet he’s making an LLM do all the interesting work. He can’t code so he vibecodes the whole frontend. He can’t reverse engineer so he leaves Claude with the uart connection. He doesn’t understand something so he makes an LLM explain it.

With his platform he could easily find a person (or a couple) who could do this work themselves, not only saving him money, but nerdsniping someone into hacking a bike. A win-win for everybody.
