The article seems to be more about Oracle being forced to cough up $7B as collateral for one of their new shiny (future-) data centers - even though apparently they tried to make this requirement go away, but the regulators weren't touched by their crocodile tears.

Oh, shoot. Though I don't have many vibecoded projects, when I decided to move to Codeberg from Github the first project I pushed to codeberg was a vibecoded one

I guess there is a bright side too: it forces me to selfhost my repos, something I planned to do since years.

That's not very accurate. It sees 8 GB RAM instead of 64. And it detects GTX 9 GPU, though I have an RTX30 one.

(Edit: now it came to my mind that Firefox has fingerprinting protection by default. But even after whitelisting this website, the result is the same)

This made me remember something from the early 90s, which was pretty weird when I look back. I grew up in a post-socialist country, and copyright laws were all over the place.

I remember there was a weekly broadcast at one of the state operated radios: every week they played one popular album from start to finish without interruption, so people could record it on tape (somewhere around the 30-minutes mark there was a short pause, so people could flip the cassette). They were doing whole discographies, for example they were playing all Deep Purple albums over the course of a few months, one album each week.

And it was totally normal back then, lol.

Have been wondering since a long time if there are still any real reviews on the internet, that weren't paid for by someone, something that could be trusted. I really can't remember when was the last review that turned out to be true.

But while I do believe that there is a real hole in the market there, I am not sure how big that market is, if there is really a demand for real reviews - both products and services (and whatever else can be reviewed)

Lol, Friday deployment is a bad omen even with LLM. Some things are just unchangeable facts of life.

This has happened dozens of times, and it will keep happening as long as people don't care about it.

Long live offline physical media, and The Pirate Bay.

hmm.. well... haha, you might be right. I think have some overly aggressive ublock filters. If I disable ublock, then I get the equivalent of hell on this link.

I take back my complaint about text selection.

The sole criterion for admission is a 114-question, three-hour exam known as...
1. [Screw NYT for disabling text selection, and I had to type this in] Edit: probably that was my bad.

2. This sounds like a very important sentence, and begs at least 2 questions: "is the selection really racist as implied by the title", and the other one is "why is the result like that"? IMO the answer to the first question (based on the article at least) is no. I have no answer for the second.

While I don't hate Rust (even have a couple of private projects written in Rust, and plan to use it in the future also), I wouldn't really call it fun, as a personal opinion. I find Rust code usually pretty ugly, and some of the abstractions can make it challenging to understand. Compared to it, C is plain and simple. I still find more joy in writing C code - though for some goals it isn't my first choice.

In March, Apple informed the EU that it had agreed to acquire certain assets and hire employees from SigScalr...
In other news, all of sigscalr's repositories now have a header saying

This repository was archived by the owner on Mar 13, 2026. It is now read-only.

Not that I used it, this is the first time I hear about it. But it's always sad when an OSS ends, especially like that.

    No results for "porn".
Huhh, are you indexing the same internet that we are using to post these messages?

Multi-word search is doing some interesting things. When I search for "4chan magic ball" I'd expect a picture with a magic 8-ball, but instead I am getting almost random, unrelated results. Similar for "vhdl flip flop" search, I'd expect to see a flip-flop implementation.

Do you plan to keep it online for the long term, or is it more like for your current amusement?
