Activism is expensive, canadians are poor but also have a lot to lose. Are you going to give up your apartment, your car, your internet and cell service because you think the canadian government is slightly more evil than other govenments?

I have noticed that the list of potential leaders is made up of a disproportionate number of stupid, ignorante or corrupt people.

> professional iPad users

No such an animal. I have recently been issued an iPad for logging jobs and material use, it's terrible. Tablets are essentially little TVs made for consuming images and video with minimal user interaction, when you have to start typing up a dozen lengthy descriptions of jobs on a touch screen it gets frustrating in a hurry. Most of the contractors that come buy have been been given iPads as well and are equally impressed with the experience.

I've used 3 Apple products for more than chance interactions. A MacSE for 5 years in school, a 2015 Mac desktop for 6 months in a printshop, and an iPad for the past 2 years at work.

The SE and desktop felt like modern machines, clicks and key presses had predictable results, applications did what you told them too. On par with the Win95 and Win 7/8 I was used to at the time.

Jesus Christ, that iPad on the other hand, feels like janky Windows Vista tech rammed together by an intern. Weird UI artifacts, making the same gesture can have unpredictable results, the only function that everyone in the shop found without failure was 'undo' because it is triggered by violent shaking.

Even simple tasks like sharing a photo saved from a website is bizarrely broken. Depending on whether you saved it as a file or 'to your photos' dictates which applications can then open/share the image. And I know Android is full of it's own foibles but they took a few months to internalize. I'm going on 2 years of 'features' breaking workflow, and pixel perfect taps to activate input elements that are 5% of the screen width.

It's weird how lazy people are unwilling to take the advice:

> Stop using the lazy answer box, it will make you lazy.

Oh no, don't want to hurt the tech billionaires' feelings.

The majority of LLM use is to make slop or answer simple questions that could have been searched. The mythical AI-Chad Coders are so rare that catching them in the anti-slop dragnet will not meaningfully decrease the quality of a big project.

I flashed my 4XL today (from the no longer supported Graphene). It's nice to be able to keep a 7 year old device runnin, when most people bin theirs after 3-4 years.

I flashed my 10 with Graphene as soon as it was supported and RCS was a bit of a challange as well. Both because of the recipient's device/settings as well as my own privacy settings.

Google hosts a significant number of bots. About half of my fail2ban list is google cloud IPs.

You mean exactly like rich cunts today? You never hear a politician or a CEO say "boy am I glad all those interns do the bitch work so I can look good on TV".

> There seems to be a real reduction in property crime in some places with cameras. I don’t think it’s realistic to take these down everywhere.

And the guy at the Honda dealer says I should buy a CRV.

Steal, lie, cheat, do what you want as long as you do not take from other _people_. A government is not a person, a business is not a person, a museum is not a person. They should not have the power to deprive you from accessing any media which they "own" but did not create.

I hooked up my local LLM with zim-tools and a 120GB copy of Wikipedia. With some very strict instruction it's turned into a bar-trivia machine, it can answer factual questions faster than I can look them up and it's all offline.

The fun starts when you ask it more complicated questions like 'i have a device that communicates with microwaves and draws a maximum of 20mA at 12v, is it safe for use near humans?' It will look up microwave safety, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, workplace exposure limits and eventually come up with 1/4W is already safe and the device likely is not a 100% efficient microwave transmitter.
