chinese labs are probably benchmaxxing but i'd like to see when the index changes relative to the position of the best chinese models (last suspiciously-timed update was when glm-5.3-flash was looking really strong)

so if the moat isn't the model and the moat isn't the inference layer, i guess the moat is the hardware now? what does this mean for frontier labs?

crazy how they make an improvement of 0.03 look like a 5x difference

sadly i'm not convinced this is what most people want, seems like barely functional is good enough for most

probably a bit harder to steal terabytes of data, and the weights aren't what people are after anyway - distillation is basically "stealing" a model and you can do it from outside

insane doom demo i wonder what the limits of its intelligence are? i'm guessing it's not great at reasoning tasks, it seems breaking down the problem helps significantly, but how much does a problem need to be broken down for reliable performance? also this would be huge if it could run locally but it seems like there's no intention to do that at the moment

seems to me that many advancements so far are more the product of intelligent effort than pure brilliance, i'm still hopeful that human researchers (and humans in general) will remain better at asking the right questions and making good decisions
