yes, and isn't it funny that

foo=[baz, bar,]

returns a nice list of two items, but if you edit this down and miss the comma,

foo=bar,

is not a scalar.

returning a tuple.

So the trailing comma thing is a thing.

> only to discover a few days later that the code was failing because different people had different indentation settings in their IDEs, both regarding tabs versus spaces and the number of spaces.

yeah, why Guido got away with the "we don't need deliminators, white space is just fine" for so long has always baffled me.

Because somehow a special character that marks the start and end of a block is hard for people to understand??

From the article

> We removed over 80% of Claude Code’s system prompt for models like Claude Opus 5 and Claude Fable 5 with no measurable loss on our coding evaluations.

And no report of how it impacted earlier models. Was it just BS all along?

80% of the prompt was wasted tokens.

which is why I cried inside to myself when my manager posted Boris's "Steps of AI Adoption", which reduces "adoption" to how many agents you run at once, on a logarithmic scale (0, 1, 10, 100, 1000 agents at once).

Because # of agents is the only metric that matters.

If I were a city government, I would just start charging Flock rent.

In the US, something like 98% of eligible men enlisted in WWI. There was no draft.

So yes, VERY high probability of service.

Air conditioning only works for things inside of buildings. Not so good for the plants and animals our lives depend on.

And it raises the heat outside of buildings. Not so good for people who have to be outside, think first responders etc.

"just turn on the AC and keep burning the world down" isn't really the answer.

So let's assume you are right.

Does that justify the price?

Spacex price/sales: 100x-130x

RTX Corporation's (formerly Raytheon Technologies) Price-to-Sales (P/S) ratio currently hovers around 2.74 to 2.76. Boeing price-to-sales (P/S) ratio sits at 1.86, Lockheed Martin's (LMT) trailing twelve-month (TTM) price-to-sales (P/S) ratio sits at 1.64. Northrop Grumman's current Trailing Twelve Month (TTM) price-to-sales (P/S) ratio sits at approximately 1.76 to 1.89

So based on the peer comps you provided, SpaceX is overvalued by 50-100x. Your $185 shares are worth about $2.

Fine if you want to take that bet. Not fine if you force (via indexing) the majority of US pension savings to take that bet.

Yes, as you say the market is a local (both in space and time) and greedy optimizer.

Long-term payoffs that increase the value of all participants in society, such as education, healthcare, infrastructure (roads including public transportation, water, electricity, ...), are demonstrably better served by government than by business.

let's reverse the question. Where are markets expected to be optimal?

> definition of 'perfect competition' perfect competition, in which there are large numbers of identical suppliers and demanders of the same product, buyer and sellers can find one another at no cost, and no barriers prevent new suppliers from entering the market.

And that perfect competition provides the price signals that allow the market to be more competitive.

The less that holds true, the less efficient the market is going to be.

What is the price signal on education?

What is the price signal on public infrastructure?

What is the price signal on rule of law and the ability to enforce contracts?

well, one comes with a pretty strong safety cage, so there is that difference.

> The moment I start talking to someone, automagically the NC is paused as well as any audio you were listening to.

When I'm listening to music, the music helps form my sense of time. It is deeply jarring to have the music pause for a few minutes and then start as though in 'music-land' no time had passed.

I'd be happier if the music volume went to zero but the song/track kept progressing.

maybe seeing if the case law it cited was real or imagined? Just one idea, IANAL
