Em-dashes historically been very common in nonfiction and literature and are a very versatile way to compose more complex sentences and provide an alternative to comma-separated clauses, colons, parentheses, etc. I think AI is just reflecting something that fell out of common usage as part of a general trend of people reading less and paying less attention to punctuation and sentence construction. Now it's seen as a tell for someone using AI, but if you pick up any book written in the last 200 years you'll see tons of em-dashes.

Do you really think the government should be responsible for creating meaning in peoples lives? Most people who are unemployed are so by CHOICE. There are far too many people out there wanting to "create content" for a living, i.e. play video games on stream or spread antisocial propaganda. It's a thoroughly useless occupation that imparts no economic value to society or edification to the people consuming said "content". This idea that AI is going to "destroy" the job market is just an excuse, a cop-out a rationalization of ones failure to invest time =or energy developing marketable skills because "there's no point"

You send a request, the tool call executes and returns a response to the calling model or client, then you handle it somehow. You can add the output of the tool call into the context and prompt the model again...or just return the output of the tool execution. There are many ways to do it.

If you believe this sort of thing you spend far too much time online and not nearly enough time existing or participating in society.

In general, an agent will make an API call to an MCP server to get a list of available tools or to execute a specific tool. For example, when you send a request to OpenAI's Responses API and include a tool call to one of their tools (e.g. web search), the actual execution always occurs on the remote server.

You can also make remote MCP calls over the OpenAI Responses API, which will basically proxy the request to the remote MCP server URL you pass in the request. The execution is always happening on the MCP server hosting the tool.

You can run your own MCP server and expose your own custom tools, rather than hitting someone else's remote service. You can also use function calling w/ OpenAI to let a model decide which custom code to execute without using MCP. With my agents I use a bit of both depending on use case. Sometimes it's easier to use a prompt that outputs a JSON object containing some arguments and a function name defined in your agent code, you call your function and then pass the result back to the model.

At the end of the day MCP is just a protocol, so it's up to you how much you want to implement yourself and what you want to offload to remote providers (just be mindful of whose tools you're calling and what context is being passed in your tool calls).

What a bunch of facile garbage. For one thing, this idea that loss isn't really about the person who died...it's about YOU is insulting. Oh, they were no longer required for YOUR "task" so the system culled and "reassigned" them. The rest is just a series of weak surface level mappings from the infinitely complex domain of human existence into some HTTP status codes and ridiculous parallels to LLM interactions (which itself is a mere subset of the domain of AI).

The worst part isn't the anthropomorphizing of AI, it's the reduction of human agency and experience into a series of passive interactions within a constrained domain that forces you to reorient every thought and action toward this stupid extended metaphor.

Yeah, because what we need as a society is an entire generation of neurotic self-obsessed spinsters prioritizing the indulgence of their capricious sexual desires over all else.
