Let me ask you this: do you understand the code your colleagues produce as well as the code you write yourself?

Doesn't this analysis kind of break down if all of a sudden the domestically produced products shoot up in price because all of the components and raw materials are now subject to large tariffs? Suddenly there is a lot more room for profit if the prices of your competition goes up.

I don't think the problem is that people don't know what is making them gain weight. If it were, I don't think the rates of obesity would be as high as they are. I'm not saying it's impossible; you've done it, I've done it. I'm saying that at some point you have to have reasonable expectations about what you can expect from people at large .

At what point are you willing to concede that it might not be feasible for someone that isn't you? If it were 10% harder do you think you would have stuck through it? 50% harder? The numbers say the proportion of people who are successful is very small and there are sure a lot of people who are trying

Edit: I'll add that I've successfully shed 100lbs through discipline before. With the life I currently as caretaker for my son I don't nearly as much room in my life for the mental overhead that sort of change in diet required me in the past.

You can bikeshed in any language. Kotlin introduced a lot of optional syntactic sugar so that Java devs could choose their level of comfort with the language features. I don't really see this as a problem unless your devs are prone to this sort of bikeshedding (see: your use of "smells funny"). I've used kotlin for Android since right before it was officially supported and there has been almost no downside other than the occasional hiccup with Java/Kotlin nullability interop

I think it's worth emphasizing just how low the bar is in the US for public transportation bike infrastructure, and walkability, even in many of the big cities.

Were you the recipient of a program like this? If not in what way are living out a case study?

Regardless of what you see as an exaggeration on his part, the evidence is he's referring to is surely better than the individual anecdote of the parent post.

Do you think your homeownership is unsubsidized?

No true Scotsman argument aside, anti-competitive practices by very powerful firms are a bad thing, even if the firm got the market power because they have or had the best product.

Sounds like the way programmers learn to use syntax highlighting. Never occurred to me to view ligatures through that lens .

The regulations that ban the practices is the racism here
