Plenty of managers have thought the same thing and gotten burned. It doesn’t work with humans engineers nor does it with LLMs.

Idk, seems like it’s important to A/B test being “AI native” because it could go badly.

Usability of internal tools is just never considered. Priorities are driven by management. They invariably just don’t care about feedback from the peons that actually have to use them in their day-to-day jobs, even when it results in tremendous inefficiency.

This also allows companies like Workforce to make billions selling the most godawful software imaginable.

Opus makes boneheaded mistakes and engages in severe anti-patterns constantly. I use it, but it requires careful handholding on complex projects. It absolutely isn’t better than 95% of professional devs, that’s a ridiculous statement.

Yeah, you’re right about that. They view IT as a “cost center” to be cut to the bone (despite being essential to their product and strategy in most cases), while they have no problem with paying consultants astronomical hourly rates for nonsense like this.

I get that these companies (airlines, widgets, whatever) don’t see IT as a thing that generates revenue, but it’s like having electricity or running water. You don’t think about it much, but if you don’t have it, you’re fucked.

Around where I live, they first shut down during covid with the excuse of preventing transmission. Of course they just never opened up again. Ditto water fountains.
