> A truly skilled developer who makes a genuine attempt should be expected to solve 99% of their tasks within the same business day as of October 2026.

Agreed, and in fact even pre-AI good development teams weren't limited by speed of code generation (how to build it), but rather making the right thing (what to build).

With AI, in the long term open source code might actually become more secure than obfuscated closed source, since it's had so many more (AI) eyes looking at it.

Assuming this would even work (unlikely), I suppose it's a good opportunity to take advantage of VC-subsidized plumbing repairs — if you're willing to take the risk.

Turns out that abundant automated labor doesn't create a post-scarcity world where people don't have to work — it just concentrates even more power in the hands of capital.

NYC is a much different feeling than the rest of the US. 70% of residents are either first- or second-gen immigrants, and you can find people from every corner of the world here. It's one of the few places where the American ideal yet lives on.

It sold off 1% yesterday and then went back up 0.5% today, hardly a signal.

"Not Invented Here" syndrome will be back with a vengeance!

I think if you build a product that takes a lot of serious AI work to both build and run, it's going to be hard to replicate just like past "good products" were hard to replicate. It's just that the bar for what's "hard to replicate" is way higher than before.

People need to eat, sleep, be healthy, have shelter, feel loved, be in communities...

Coding has been transformed but none of those areas of our lives have been substantive transformed by AI yet. Whoever does, will create a lot of value for the world.

The swarm-based HF hack, and the observation that 40-50% of the compute at AI labs goes into training the next generation of agents, doesn't count?

We're all over here using agents to code projects that used to take weeks and feeling pretty good about it, and they're using agents to build the next generation of frontier models — an order of magnitude more complex problem...

Whenever someone finds out how to apply this level of agentic sophistication to a problem that actually matters to consumers, then you'll have that monument that everyone can see.

Most of those "trucking companies" are just self-employed truck drivers...

500k trucking companies = 1 company per 700 people in the US, which would be crazy if they were actual organizations

Are you using Linux or a different OS, and what GPU / how much did it cost?

Is this just because LLMs can't do math directly? If so, they can certainly write scripts to do math though and those will be a lot more reliable for queries.
