For as "terrible of a language" Go is alleged to be for a container runtime, its not like crun or youki are exactly faster in many meaningful ways unless you count churning containers running true and exiting.

And implying the system kernel still has to run the container kinda ignores kata containers and gvisor runtimes.

Its nice having the flexibility for both system containers and application containers. It does feel though that most people forget that nspawn does both, and that it only can do system containers.

Can still get it by the way if you access the page on mobile or with a mobile useragent, desktop seems to have a basic check added to prevent install.

Wild to see the outrage on bluesky and twitter over how this hack has "no soul" and that despite wanting to pirate desperately, many claim they'll wait for a "more ethical", human developed exploit.

I genuinely wish I was joking, it reads like a bit out of South Park.

Fixed several months to almost a year ago on most libraries no?

Similar on my arch setup but using gnu stow + git-store-meta, and a little wrapper that reminds me if a particular config previously applied has had new files added to it and should be re-stow'd

Yeah, after witnessing a friend's troubles getting off theirs I wouldnt wish it upon anyone. It convinced me to get me off my own Clonazepam PRN prescription, which thankfully was rather infrequent and had minimal issues weaning off of. The psych had told me nothing of the nightmare that dependence on those meds can create, a situation somehow far worse than that which they're often prescribed to resolve.

More recently another friend mentioned getting prescribed a rather hefty dose for his anxiety. I convinced him otherwise with science backed evidence and accounts like what OP linked, given his personality type I'm certain it would have ended him.

Not really? It happens in code too, just most the time its sight unseen unless a team explicitly mentions it.

I mean we've even been seeing gamer outrage over LLMs being used in decompilation projects. How "decomps have lost their soul" now that it doesnt take a small team several years.

Granted I'm someone using a normal TLD across my lan, but I do find it funny some suggesting those obscure alternative ones that are like 50% longer than my entire FQDN. I'd imagine you're hard pressed to get people to commit to something so lengthy and unmemorable.

It wasn't some one company's choice and push. Almost everyone wins when bandwidth is cut and you get higher quality for less space. I'd argue most people's hatred for webp purely comes down to a few other corporations like microsoft, not supporting it well in the early days and blaming the format instead.

Biggest thing that helped with mine was moving to a more ergonomic keyboard. Usually split between using my datahand and my planck. Honestly even just switching to a 40% ortholinear was a huge change, it eliminated way too many awkward movements.

I wont argue that Go is the best. I will however argue how nice it is to be able to have extremely minimal distroless containers thanks to static Go compiled binaries.

Honestly way too much of it rhymes with the old hardcore right wing takes on the "obvious and clear slippery slope" involved with gay rights and the like. How anyone with even some foresight can see how it'll completely erode society as we know it, the worst possible nightmare cases are not just real but imminent unless we change course, yada yada moral panic.

People who use DeArrow keep winning. For those outside the loop, it crowdsources alternative titles grounded on the video's actual contents rather than clickbait, and similar with thumbnails.

Presumably such tools will also force version A if this continues to be a thing. And likewise I imagine more minimal extensions will arrive to do just that one job.

Some these vending machines are something wild these days. "Block's Retro Repairs" on youtube bought one of those cotton candy ones that uses a robotic arm, bloody thing had it's heat probe battery powered with no mechanism to recharge it ever. And quite a bit of calling back home before authorizing itself to run.

Talk about planned obsolescence. Difficult, but not impossible to hack together a fix for.
