> What I wonder about is why there is so much focus on the cost

Americans. Cost and value are everything, and it has poisoned every level of society.

There's a reason verification and code review shouldn't be done by the person who wrote the code, and those reasons don't magically go away because a code generation tool did it instead.

Of course, since AI will be doing the writing and maintaining, there's really no reason for that any more. Let the AI do it all and wait for management to realize they're paying senior salaries to people that are little more than entering prompts, a job that really only requires someone to be able to read and write English.

> My hot take is that a ton of ADHD cases is primarily lack of restorative sleep due to sleep disordered breathing

Uh huh. Explain the completely opposite reaction to Amphetamines and basically being impossible to become addicted to them. Explain the altered brain structure.

Everyone has a 'hot take,' it's amazing that they all lead to it not being a thing.

Now let me help you, the sleep disturbances are the hyperactivity of the brain not letting you go to sleep until you hit complete exhaustion and the dysregulation of the circadian rhythm.

> How many Firefox users actually pay for it?

None, since you can't.

> I hate exercise. Like I really really really hate it. > Should I just accept this and live a life without it?

That is entirely up to you. It's your personal life and your time. No one has the right to say what you should or must do with your time.

Just like socialization, it's up to you on how much you do or don't do. Pretending everyone needs to because you like to is stupid.

Socialization is exhausting, I have to do enough of that working. I am not going to on my personal time. I really don't care what other people think of it, or what justification they use to try and make it some sort of requirement, or how much finger waving they're going to do.

> a prediction their layoff is inevitable

It probably is. Where I work it has been made clear, as in actually stated by leadership, that any process that does not include AI input is to be considered broken and needing to be fixed. It doesn't matter if it works, if it is 100% human made and maintained, it is broken and needs to be fixed by injecting AI in a critical place. You should be in a position that if you lost access to the AI tools, you are unable to proceed.

This is the step towards replacing people. You don't need highly paid people in that process, you just need someone who can speak a language the AI tools can transcribe. This is no different than moving from a codebase or process that is tightly coupled to a specific technology to a more generic process so that you can easily and quickly change the backend tech on a whim. The technology being removed is the people. The AI is important, you are not.

Would you mind providing some examples? I can't say that I'm really up on a lot of psudoscience.

A pretty standard bottle of Vitamin D at 10k IU is 60 capsules/pills/whatever. That's a 2 month supply.

To hit the toxic eventually (77k IU) you would be going through a 2 month supply every ~7 days. To hit the acute toxicity in days or weeks (low end 600k), your going through that bottle every day.

However, every single time that someone mentions Vitamin D, people jump out of the woodwork about toxicity without ever actually bringing up just how much you have to take as if if you take the 400 IU capsule, going one IU over is going to kill you. I'm also pretty sure that a specific group of denialists shouldn't be counted as a reason to scream warnings from the mountaintops every time someone thinks about Vitamin D.

Your own link shows that what is considered toxic levels are far higher than most people would expect. Vitamin D toxicity is not that easy to accidentally hit.

Overdose has been observed at 1,925 μg/d (77,000 IU per day). Acute overdose requires between 15,000 μg/d (600,000 IU per day) and 42,000 μg/d (1,680,000 IU per day) over several days to months.

> Siri is in your pocket, on your wrist, and in your ears

and more often than not isn't reliable unless you have a midwestern US accent.

Siri wasn't good. It still isn't good. Apple hasn't delivered on its promises with it and that's why it's being replaced with Gemini.

> what is the psychological label for people who do not distinguish artist from art?

There isn't one because you can dislike a person and/or their works for literally any reason you want.

Is there a label for insisting that people put aside their feelings and engage with something because you have deemed their reason for not doing so invalid?

Did you forget dialup was a thing? No one created anything for home users thinking it would be behind some firewall because as said Windows didn't ship with one, and because the dominant way of customers getting online was dialup, giving a public IP to every user.

Software was created with no security because no one demanded it because no one cared. Technologies that came later did not create that situation.

> Corporations need to say 'no' to governments far more often than they do.

When those corporations need the government to look the other way about things they're doing or want to do, they're going to suck up to it every time as hard as they can.

This is such an easy thing to do to make the little baby happy, of course they did it before he forgets he did it in the first place.

This is because of the US's unwavering support of Israel no matter what they do.

You can not blame all of the worlds ills on Russia, seemingly the most powerful and least capable nation at the same time.
