But I'm pretty sure perma-non-DST people would not be happy with such solution.
China is an interesting example as well. With unofficial local times in far-away provinces.
Most people start and endworking at common time. If you want to spend time with other people for hobbies or socializing, you need to find a matching spot when people are done working.
Sure we can stick to solar time and adjust office hours instead. But then we're back at square 1...
In my whereabouts sun raises at 3am around midsummer (it would be 2am without DST) and at 9am around christmas. Nowdays I wake up at 7am around the year and somehow my biological rythm is fine. It used to be just fine when I waking up at 10am too. The core thing seems to be stable day rythm, not adhering to solar time.
What you're saying is sunrise matters, not solar time. Although even for sunrise, I'd say students' daily routine matters much more. Back in high school, when I spending my late evenings and nights on computer, I didn't care if it is bright or dark in the morning, i was sleepy anyway...
I'd also argue that in today's sedentary world luring people outside is very important. And bright spring/summar/fall evenings is very important at that. There's plenty of evidence for the benefits of exercise, socialising and so on. And with forever-non-DST time, we would loose that for couple weeks improvement in the morning.
I'm quite north (but not the far north) but I'm strongly for DST. If we went for solar time, we'd loose long bright evenings in the summer but have sun at 3am. Spring/fall evenings would be much darker too. I hate time switching. But I'd rather switch then loose DST summer evenings. Otherwise we'd loose a lot of outdoorsy socialising on weekdays
But some people don't go outdoors after work. And they prefer brighter mornings for couple extra weeks. During the winter the mornings are dark with or without DST.
I’m all for limiting foreign influence. But frequently people use this as an excuse to silence some „undesirable“ factions. For better or worse.
It’s like copy-paste Wikipedia presentations 2 decades ago. People used to learn things doing research for a project. Then suddenly it became copying off Wikipedia and people not even pre-reading what they copied into PPT.
Although it may be possible to replicate either with AI. But it still should be conversation style rather than infinite feed thing without any input.
