Yes but that 10% is all that matter to the people that matter to the business. Like a car, most people care about how it looks and how they interact with it... the only people who care what is under the hood, for the most part, are other engineers.

I've been doing this for a while now and it is by far much easier to work with and just as safe if configured properly. I think people just cargo cult thier way into wanting rootless containers for their long running services with no real look into if it's actually needed.

Rootless containers have their place, actual userspace workloads. Things like dev containers or normal users running containers but if one is creating users to run system level services then they are just adding extra steps imo.

I thought they just dumped it overboard but maybe there are some ethical cruises... maybe.

I like Deno because there is no "install" step for users, you just run it.

trrrs is a wild thing to want as the universal connector... They are bad for any actively powered connection since the tip/rings hit EVERYTHING on the way out and shorting. Split keyboard users know that pain.

Honestly many companies would do well to use these services. I think we get too much into the idea our apps need the same guarantees as the large products out there. Define your SLAs and then choose the platform.

I agree, it's a ui/ux problem. It would seem that using the open file dialog should also request access but I'm guessing that was too intrusive and the user action is seen as implicit authorization. Security is one of those things that should aways be explicit though.

We can get stuck in our minds and lean too much on prior skills instead of fully assessing the problem at hand. More likely than not, given he was a contractor, building a trench and walls seemed like a simple solution to something he has probably dealt with many time and didn't think twice about it.

Next step, doctors shouldn't was thier instruments or hands. That extra bacteria will be no problem if you have a good immune system! Added benifit of culling the heard of the weak.

The legislation requiring this is silly, are there any studies at all which shows it reduces harm... I couldn't find any. It would seem safer for children, and the population as a whole, if they banned vehicles which don't provide adequate front visibility. Maybe even require sensors that will prevent the vehicle from moving from a stop if something is detected in front.
