Agree with you, I do

Language modeling is fundamentally compression: https://arxiv.org/abs/2309.10668

The entire endeavor is ultimately fundamentally coupled to reducing compute

Eventually we will compress models further by removing outdated knowledge like Python and Cobol cause who needs 1960s like languages to then layout data in the screen when the model has knowledge of geometry and can mutate the screen geometry without needing a Python interpreter or C compiler

Oh no fellow American; I am 100% behind our norm of not having to concern myself with your having food, shelter, or healthcare

Don't mistake my point for giving a fuck that you, of all people, do not end up living in box behind a McDonald's; I don't care, text on a screen. :)

I just prefer brevity and absolute candor not empty platitudes and pointless circumlocution

Lmao "look their own AI says their effort and accomplishments were noble and altruistic; what more do you need?"

...it was their final, most essential command...

Will most def use local models to generate code and frontier to guide that local process but it's obviously a text generator that can be weighted to emit whatever Altman or Dario and the rest of big tech (and their inherent self selecting biological imperative) believe is best for them

> no narrative attached

That's just a style choice; like using "unalived" to mean the same physical state as "dead"

Muricans love to launder their willful and feigned ignorance behind made up terms to appear objective

It's still the same human story behind the words; a minority hordes all the loot and pays goons to shoot hungry people

Unless a calamity throws human survivors back to the stone age there can be no future Wright brothers, in the post Tevatron and LHC, James Webb telescope era there will be no new Woz, no new Jobs... 2-3 people in a garage or hanger soldering and welding

Any yet unseen discoveries will require teams of people composing something on the scale of...AI robots and Wolverine like regenerative medicine

And Google and such ...hired PhDs to do that work so they could own it and not have them release it without permission. They weren't hiring basement tinkers.

Look beyond the syntactic totems of power like brand names and logos and it's just soylent green. The contemporary legal and PR gibberish defining ownership and hyping yet another chat app are not real; it's just physics.
