Well technically it also says that in Japan they only display "Sea of Japan" in the local language (Japanese), so displaying just "Gulf of America" in the local language follows. This blog never expected that the USA would be involved in this kind of dispute.

The moment the president of the US renamed those bodies of water, it became commonly used in all sort of publications since then. It fits their description, no matter how silly.

Some of these "kids" have already entered the job market, and their companies buy them laptops.

Feeling empathy for a machine is like using your car turn singles in an empty motorway. It's pointless, but better to built a habit out of doing it, than out of not doing it.

I do turn off all fake emotion in LLMs though. Fake machine emotion gives me the creeps.

The trains being sturdy doesn't help much. The (de)acceleration alone is enough to kill, as is smashing against the seat in front of you.

Normal publications rarely publish good news. At most, news are often neutral, but mostly bad. One has to go out of their way to read actual good news.

Nobody even attempted to create an equivalent yet. There have been several large proliferators of disinformation with huge followings on social media, youtube, podcasts. Lula's army is perhaps the biggest united front yet. But you can be sure something equivalent will appear on the right, following its success.

Clearly you don't work on anything on the Web in 2026, if you're complaining about a captcha.

Git does allow multiple contributors on each commit. Of course people can lie, but it's a matter of policy in the end. Make it a crime to not add all contributors to a diff.

Honestly a bit scary. But sadly the right has been using similar tactics for a while. As we head off to a post-truth society, where lying doesn't matter and crime has no consequences, you either play the game or you lose. You can expect politics to continue to get more polarized, more intense, more fake (disinformation is absolutely rampant) and more real at the same time (biggest gatherings ever in major cities).

Whoops, yes I meant 2 terms.

Not Brazillian, and I didn't know about the 2-turn system, but I definitely became a fan. It's simple to understand and to implement. Ranked voting is too complex to implement and for everyone to understand. Run-off lets you vote for you preferred party first, and for the realistic contender second. Sadly, almost no one did that in Brazil - >90% voted for the finalists in the first turn.

That's true, and indeed the fact checking they posted online sometimes lacked nuance. But they actually tried to tackle that exact problem by labeling several statements as "not quite right", and all facts had a description, it was not black and white. I also understand that in live TV that nuance would be lost. But some statements were 100% straight out lies. Those could be even flagged by the debate moderator.

Brazil also has limits. You can only be president for 2 years in a row.

LLMs still struggle with deciding what parts of a document or concept are more important. So documentation often trashes wildly around specificity, like "In this driving game the car moves forward and the glove compartment can be used to save the game". I think it's a big part of why reading unredacted and unedited LLM slop feel so much more tiring than reading human-written text.
