I'm a software architect located in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. I'm very interested in discrete mathematics & algorithms, cloud computing, Javascript/Typescript, ruby, python, web frameworks, and RDBMS.

I'm also a co-founder of Opreto; a software consulting firm that specializes in running dedicated project teams.

So, there IS a series of tubes?

I would also point out that a lot of organizations think scrum ceremonies and sprint satisfy the requirement for ticking the agile checkbox, but in reality, practice waterfall.

What business? This seems to be completely free, with no pricing, in-app purchases, or anything. That being said, it's strange that it doesn't seem to be open-source.

Haven't used it personally, but I would suggest looking into Apache Hudi

Nice roundup, and thanks for sharing that proposal!

One thing I always appreciated about CoffeeScript was its [heregex syntax](https://coffeescript-cookbook.github.io/chapters/regular_exp...), which made regexes clear and easy to document.

Many CoffeeScript constructs were adopted into JavaScript and TypeScript, but unfortunately, heregexes weren't among them.

I'm gonna ask my chatgpt to write like you ;)

I went from understanding none of it, to everything making sense. Thanks!

I got a stylus for my iPad and i felt that way at the beginning but I learned that i visualize in my head what I'm going to create right before I draw, and the difference between what's in my mind vs what gets produced is so great, that it feels like a weird uncanny valley and i hate the output.

Does that do the same thing as simply putting quotes around your search term?

Well, I think a lot of the uptick happened last week because that's when it was published in the Toughtworks Tech Radar for this quarter. The audience is large, presumably larger than HN, and that's how I found out about it and have been toying with it since then. I have no idea what I'm doing, but as far as I can tell, this seems like a legitimate project.

If you haven't already, set up a profile on upwork. The barrier to entry is a lot lower on short term projects, so you are more likely to find some work to keep your finances from depleting too quickly.

It will also give you a boost of confidence, an opportunity to build social proof about your work, and it may even end up scoring you a longer term engagement.

Good luck!

I think this is exactly what I've been looking for. I like going for walks and listening to audiobooks and podcasts, and I've been using Google's recorder as a way to "highlight" my findings, but it doesn't let me add to existing recordings so I can't collate sessions together.

I'll be trying this on as a replacement.

I think you're not seeing it mentioned here because this is comparing apples to oranges. Node is not a web development platform, it literally IS only a runtime.

Rather than comparing with Django or Rails, one should instead compare it to Python and Ruby. There are several server side web framework for NodeJS also (Meteor, Sails, Express).

It's possible you may have confused Node with Express, as I see that happening very frequently, but Node is used for all sorts of other workloads like desktop apps, microservices, and other general computing tasks.

That's definitely one aspect of child rearing that every parent is (or should be) involved in, but young children often feel like they have to prove themselves to their parents. The end result is that they're usually only willing to learn things from their parents at a very shallow level.

I've struggled with that aspect of child rearing with my 6 y/o since she was able to speak. She is far more willing to learn at a deep level from teachers than from us, even though her mother is an experienced elementary school teacher.

I love it, excellent work!

One thing I noticed is when signing up with github, it requires read/write access to all repos. Does it write anything, or is that just the only access control github provides through the API?
