We use runs on for our runners now. https://runs-on.com/

Our app isn’t Rust, but our agentic engineering requires lots of various tests. I can’t imagine using GitHub’s terribly slow runners after migrating. Having faster CI compute would reduce a big negative of Rust

The price of the goods being shipped. Perhaps, subsidized trucking reduces incentives for rail infrastructure which is cheaper transportation in the long run.

The judge “concluding the company is legally responsible for the conduct of its driver”.

I’m not a layer, but doesn’t that open up a precedent where others could be more willing sue Uber now for damages caused by their driver?

For better or worse, the defense the US provides will no longer be used as leverage for economic agreements across the EU and the Middle East.

It’s different because those places typically provide jobs for the people in the surrounding area. Data centers don’t employ enough people to provide an economic benefit for the people that live near them.

Great point, inference is just one variable. It’d be really great to know how much those tasks costs in inference. I’m assuming they cost significantly higher than human labor. Therefore, the inference cost is so high that it makes the other variables seem irrelevant for the time being.

Robotics with AI is the real revolution.

Today, humans convert their labor to capital. Capital holders need labor (humans) to acquire more capital. When the price of inference for these robots becomes less than the price of labor then capital holders don’t need labor.

Obviously, AI impacts non-manual labor too, but a significant portion of the world population does manual labor.

3090 was released six years ago and is still very relevant for running models locally.

> You uncover a better design and submit a string of diffs not only implementing the task but simplifying other parts of the code too. Bonus points for doing this before you implement (make the hard change easy then make the easy change).

The last part of this really stands out. A high performer understands that software is malleable. However, the way you shape it, when things change, and how much is changed at one time matters a lot

Why’s that? What would be the alternative?
