> A lot of heat pumps don’t work well below -20F / -30C.

I mean, sure, and a tiny one won't work for a mansion. If you're somewhere that cold, you choose a heat pump that works in that temperature range.

I'm very confused by the various "heat pumps can't provide enough heat" that keeps coming up in the comments here (less you than others; it's a fine question). Heat pumps can output as much heat as any other heat source. Just pick a heat pump based on BTU that matches your alternative. You can size it up more if you want. You home's electrical limit is probably at least 24kW, which typically gives you plenty to power a good sized heat pump alongside everything else.

If you go heat pump + heat pump water heater + electric washer and dryer + induction stove + electric car, you might want to upgrade, depending on your situation.

The person at the top refers to Anthropic as "Misanthropic". It seems unlikely that they're also intentionally lying about this to protect Anthropic's interests.

Your conspiracy theory needs some work.

Well, a micro-transaction on your credit card isn't a great solution, since the base fee is something like $0.10 per transaction. You'll want a system to fill a low-transaction-fee wallet and then distribute from there.

Youtube Premium is a pretty good system. I pay $16/mo, and 55% of that gets distributed to creators based on my watch time.

I mean...I think people who oppose GMOs, permitting reform, hydroelectric, and nuclear power do care about the environment, despite actively working against it. People who oppose developers building more houses do want more affordable housing, despite actively working against it.

People, including individuals, aren't single-minded, rational, or scientifically literate.

In the case of anti-fascism, many on the left earnestly believe that a far-left candidate is the solution because their bubble tells them that their views are dominant. After all, they and many of their friends aren't excited to vote for the moderates, but would vote for someone more left.

I'll sacrifice a lot of things I care about for leadership that would shore up democracy (I'm not sure how, though fixing redistricting is a big one), but it's seen as normal and admirable to refuse to compromise.

it wasn't when I tried it a year or so back. It told me to report bugs to Discord, but Discord crashed immediately in Orion. I think it turned out to be uBlock Origin or something, but still was a very frustrating experience. 1Password also didn't work correctly.

Obviously they can't control extensions, but if popular extensions break your browser, and you don't offer a good native replacement, it's a bit of a no-go.

This was a year or so ago, so maybe it's better now.

If I fix a typo, I've edited an article. I used to search for common misspellings and fix them. It was useful, but very different from having actually written anything.

Same for adding an article to a category or adding links between en:Albert Einstein and de:Albert Einstein.

EDIT: For your consideration, here's his contributions: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/Ser_Aman...

Again, useful, but obviously very different from writing (or even modifying) the contents of an article.

As noted in the article, the feedback form says:

> Submitting this report will send the entire current conversation to Anthropic for future improvements to our models. Learn More

So I'm not sure why this is being posted to HN. This is nothing new, and nothing not known by anyone who has ever provided feedback.

Yeah, I don't understand how this can even be a question when we're finding an unprecedented number of bugs that are decades old.

I've gotten automatic refunds from Amazon bots. (I also got automatic credit from Lyft, but I consider that a failure because I wanted my money back.)

> Safari has the most obscene monopoly of any browser ever. IE 6 came pre-installed on windows machines, but you could always install Mosaic or such.

Mosaic was a fair bit earlier, but yeah, I ran Netscape 4 until Mozilla M18. Never used IE as my main browser in many years of Windows use.

EDIT: I guess Netscape 4 and Mozilla M18 were both pre-IE6, too, but still Mozilla/Firefox for the IE6 era.

Politically, get rid of Trump is my top priority, but hopping into discussions that aren't about American politics with "hey, did you know Trump is bad?" doesn't advance getting rid of Trump.

MENSA also selects for people who want someone to certify their intelligence. High iq people who have done a lot have much less desire for a MENSA membership. We should be looking at the non-MENSA members with high iqs and seeing what they're doing.

I hate Trump, but I don't see how Trump's corruption is relevant to this discussion. Are we supposed to comment on every story about someone doing something bad with "Trump's even worse"?
