That's terribly sad news. From his brilliant performances in TNG to his hilarious performance in Extras he was such an amazing actor who brought kindness and warmth to me whenever I watched him in anything. He introduced me to the magic of Shakespeare and also to the magic of being authentic and kind no matter how successful you are. A real British legend!

The driver always has the final say on whether the train is safe to move. They are not just a button and lever pusher. They have to analyse whether the decision is correct. Hence why I stated there were multiple points of failure. The controller and the driver both went with full speed despite it being completely against regulation on a red signal.

I can't imagine what every passenger who survived and the families of those who passed are going through. Such a catastrophic incident with multiple human failures is so tragic and so needless. From the controller to the driver, every single one of them should have said hey we shouldn't just ignore a signal and should investigate why it's on first. For this to be such a quick decision suggests it's not a one off. I would be extremely interested to see how many near misses or ignored signals there has been across Spain. The crash earlier this year was due to inexperienced workers and it seems as if significant training improvements and protocols are needed.

Suggesting a country committing acts of terrorism are terrorists, seems to escape many.

I read the article, but I find that the shortages may not be a bad thing as it will just end with a lot of waste otherwise due to many companies over developing a platform that is not viable long term. We are not at the stage where the demand matches the usability of these devices. It sounds a lot like Lumentum wish to influence how all it's competitors design their products for Lumentum's benefit, rather than focus on what maybe optimal.

Right now we need a lot less hype to maintain funding, and a lot more acceptance of we don't yet know what is optimal. We can still make significant progress towards a useful photonics computing platform that makes use of the differences in comparison with classic computing. That progress doesn't need to be at scale yet. Especially when that company has backing that doesn't require sales to maintain research and development.

No standard across the board and it being rather challenging to reliably package a Photonic Circuit on Chip into the rest of the required device have always been the key issues. I think the key here though is that we don'yet know the right approach so the former is very much trial and error. We are likely at this stage going to end up with a recommended standard from the company that can shout the loudest, rather than waiting to see which is obviously optimal aka best efficiency in transferring data.

This reminds me of a very similar Disney exhibition at Miraikan in Tokyo back in 2017 that showed what went into making an animated film. It was a fascinating exhibition, that focused a lot on Moana but had a range of other films on show that they explained the process behind. The fact we have so many people dedicated to one short movie is amazing and in my eyes always worth the effort.

Pricey. I do miss the days when the first Dell developer laptop was released.

It really depends on your goal. If you wish to use it day to day then you do need to understand it but yes you can use the handy Dirac notation to let you calculate lots without ever going too deep.

Second this book, but you need a source before this to study QP successfully. This requires a lot of UG maths and physics knowledge that I think most would not have.

The key aspects of quantum physics can be explained very simply. The issue is going in depth without those basics. I often find if someone doesn't get Quantum Physics, it's that source or you need the steps explaining more in-depth. Often sources assume your base knowledge and that is where many fall flat.

Japan has a ridiculously high crime rate for many crimes such as sexual assault.

Japan only takes cases they know they can get a prosecution on, not that they know they are guilty

He sounds great! I love these characters that you find in programming. My niche is more Mac Os System 7 -OS 9 and Be OS but the same sort of people exist in those realms too.
