Europe threatening the US with a good time? Imagine a world where all of our best companies didn't have to contort themselves to adhere to the random patchwork of regulations the EU throws at it to justify endless rent extraction through fines? Oh no! They might have to innovate for themselves using checks notes US AI software to reverse engineer US SaaS? What a joke of an article.

You have some serious rose colored glasses on. 2010 google was insanely easy to manipulate. It was like golden era for grey/blackhat SEO. It didn't even start to get moderately difficult until like 2014-2015. Google of today is significantly less spam infested.

Source: I've been doing digital marketing/SEO since ~2008 and happily abused easy signals to manipulate rankings for fun and profit for many of those early years.

it feels like you are being deliberately obtuse so I may be wasting my time, but I'll attempt to assume the best and try one more time. This is very basic correlation vs causation stuff. The side effect is related to rapid weightless of any kind. Weightloss is a "side effect" of the drug. Hairloss is a side effect of rapid weight loss. There is a chain of effects there but it's not X causes Z, it's X might cause Y, which causes Z. This distinction matters less for negatives - still good to tell people but for positives it is disingenuous. If you don't lose weight, your sleep apnea doesn't go away. Your joint pain doesn't get better. Your blood pressure doesn't go down - because the drug doesn't cause those things, the weight loss does.

If you shoot someone in the face, generally speaking that person will die. Not everyone who takes GLP-1s actually lose weight. A decent fraction of people are non-responders. Those people also tend to not lose their hair or have their sleep apnea and knee problems go away. Your analogy isn't as clever as you might think.

Reporting on these drugs is so bad. Most of the benefits AND downsides they keep reporting are the same for any major rapid weight loss. Be it hair shedding or sleep apnea resolving. They keep acting like these are novel drug specific side effects rather than weight-loss related side effects.

They bought that stuff from Samsung, and Samsung has been doing it for a while now. So no, the screen and hinge aren't really first gen.

Creases are maybe the "range anxiety" of the fold world? TBH I had been eyeing foldables for 3-4 years before I got off the sidelines and bought one. My main "wait for the tech to mature" worry was the crease. Now that I finally have one, you are right I wouldn't have cared about the crease. But man I'm glad I waited anyway because the passport aspect ratio turns out to really just make the form factor work. It's been years since I've been truly delighted by a phone upgrade but this thing fucking slaps. I suspect apple people will feel the same about the apple version. It's just the right form factor for the job.

- Opened in portrait it has replaced my kindle.

- Opened in landscape it's the perfect tablet - great for media and web browsing.

- Add a GameSir G8 plus and it replaces handheld gaming device like a steam deck

- Dex mode + a monitor on an arm, keyboard & mouse and moonlight/jellyfin to your main computer and now you have a full fat computer at your couch

- Even closed the front screen is just better. I didn't trade in my Pixel 10 Pro XL because I like to keep one backup phone around. Now when I go to keep it charged it just feels goofily tall by comparison.

I'm probably a fold convert forever at this point. I don't think I'll go back to non-folds. But also I don't think I'll ever buy a non-passport aspect ratio phone again ever if I have the option. The ratio is everything, the crease by contrast doesn't matter a bit.

I'd wait before believing no crease. My Z Fold 8 had basically no crease for the first week, after it has a slight crease that hasn't seemed to get any worse in the 3 weeks since. It's only noticeable in dark room with dramatic down lighting at certain angles, or when display is off, but it IS there. There has been some talk of Samsung actually having a better anti-crease solution than they opted to include in the z fold 8. Apparently their display division and mobile division are pretty separate and mobile only gets what they are willing to "pay for". It's possible apple ponied up for the better tech where Samsung mobile did not this year. But I'd still want to wait until people have had the thing for a few weeks and put it through it's paces before I believe any "no crease" claims.

I frequently find blind spots / edges where one model notices something non-trivial none of the others did. I think the one that surprises me the most often is probably grok, but I wouldn't want grok to be my daily driver. I feel I get benefits but I could also see the argument that it's just a complex token burning furnace lol.

Don't fall for this. Agents silently downgrade unless you explicitly block the behavior. I built a little harness for Chatgpt, grok and Claude to do design review feedback rounds where one holds the pen and the other 2 send feedback, then rotate if no convergence. I built a thing into it to track if model swaps happen. Happens to Claude all the time. The other two, never.

I wasn't making a value judgement on who should respond to the offer, just commenting on who the offer was probably aimed at. Though I do think the sudden spike in investment and the little foundation around it now means probably more than "just one guy".

I don't think it's aimed at them. I think it's mostly aimed at windows and mac users who are computer enthusiasts but never really made the jump to Linux as a desktop daily driver. Just supposed to be a cool on-ramp - basically mint but different and with some marketing behind it?
