That's what distinguishes super yachts from mere regular-sized yachts. The wide base of the hull increases stability on the water to the point that donkey husbandry becomes practical.

I would characterise myself, per your original question, of being able to superimpose imagined objects onto my visual field.

I would not say that such a superimposed red circle is entirely indistinguishable from a real one, but the experience is very much akin to seeing. For one thing maintaining superimposed objects requires a degree of mental focus of which I am constantly aware, especially if the object is detailed and solid.

This feels a bit like "is my red the same as your red?". What do even mean when you say you can "imagine that wall with the red circle on it", but you can't "see" it? Is there no visual aspect to your experience whatsoever? Do you have a spatial sense of the red circle's size and position? Do you experience (hear?) verbal statements about the red circle's existence and properties, or is this some conceptual sense of the red circle that is both non-verbal and non-visual?

That's easily solved!

The Conduit® Thinkerface® Pro Band will contain a small 90B dense local model that pre-screens your Conduit® NeuroTokens® stream for compliance against the Conduit® Acceptable Usage Policy applicable for your region and subscription tier.

If non-compliance is detected you'll be promptly notified via a small current applied to the Conduit® ThinkRight® Human Training Electrodes embedded within your band. Intensity and duration are dynamically adjusted until compliance is restored.

Even better, because this all happens on-device before your Conduit® NeuroTokens® are sent to the Conduit® NeuroServer®, non-compliant thoughts don't count towards your Conduit® Daily Thinking Allowance or expend credits from your Conduit® Additional Thinking Purchase Plan.

I recently ran `df` and was surprised to see that I'd used more than half of the two terabyte SSD in my laptop. So, being apparently atypically proactive, my first action was delete all of the target directories in my Rust projects and was equally surprised to see that it freed up nearly 10% of my disk usage (~200 GB)!

That wasn't the prompt. That text was generated by asking the model to describe an image and feeding it a rendering of the SVG it had previously generated.

Yes, as I recall, he sold Zachtronics to investors sometime after TIS-100 so that he could focus on making the games and have someone else worry about the business.

I wouldn't say that no one cares, but obviously many fewer people care when the cost of "recompiling" a model from its open source training pipeline is so high. Also, if you only have the weights, you can still use it to generate training data for a new model (i.e. distillation) so it's inherently less locked down then closed source binaries were.

If CPU launches are being delayed until next year due to high memory prices, I wish I shared the CPU manufacturers' optimism the memory prices will be lower next year.

Would you like to have a version with a TrackPoint even if you have managed to live without it?

With all these boutique laptop brands, I hope that one of them will eventually produce a pointing stick keyboard offer a route off Lenovo.

Jon Peterson's "Playing at the World" is a fantastic book. Highly recommend!

The first thing I searched for was Deadlock, but was saddened when I realised they weren't talking about Deadlock: Planetary Conquest

This short story is set in the same universe as Tchaikovsky's excellent "Shroud" novel and in fact it's the same ship. I wonder where it sits in the chronology because I think the ending of Shroud surely permits an interesting sequel.

In some Asian cultures, "uncle" can be used to refer to any man older than yourself.

I worked for a company which adopted FogBugz. The multiplier it calculated to be applied to developer time estimates quickly diverge towards positive infinity. It's probably fair to share some of the blame for that between us and it. Nonetheless, we managed to hit our quarterly release deadline well in advance of the predicted five to six years :-P.
