So you haven't seen TNG, Voyager or Enterprise? The central point of your comment dissolves with the fact that many episodes gripe with the prime directive. Many of the best TNG episodes grapple with morality and tackle complex issues centering around incorrectly applying our values to other cultures. Alongside that, culture and authoritarianism, reflections and warnings of what can happen to even societies that see themselves as enlightened (Drumhead comes to mind).

I think it's important to critique shows within the context of the eras and societies they come from but you don't strike me as someone who knows the star trek universe very well.

I've spent some time thinking about this before, and it provides a clue about the writers accent. For example:

"An 'H'", and "a 'H'" are both equally valid following this rule (by my interpretation), depending on how you pronounce the letter 'H'.

I agree with you and could say the same thing about 90s/00s TV as he does with YouTube.

"Celeb takes a bath in baked beans for charity"

This is not true, the problem is greed and imo a lack of ROI.

You know this is just making fun of the poor working class? It's offensive.

They can do even better. I don't know how much I can say but there is an EU funded alternative in the works.

Don't forget another stuck in the past minimal semantic css based web framework that's almost unusable on anything more complex than its own demo. Complaints about react too, because its new (its 13 years old).

I feel like this is a pretty important thing for the technically minded to get their heads around.

Doesn't the fact that you can't imagine a single reason why youd want multiple fonts on a spreadsheet alarm you?

>Men in black always want popcount (it's been added to various architectures over the years at their request)

I've heard this a few times, do you have anything that explains this?

No it really is not. If you have a service contract, you do not touch it.

I think skill is also an issue here, in both directions. I have worked with a company that followed the opposite of move fast and it just turned into a 'who is the most correct' and 'what is the most elegant code' competition. We didn't push out a single new feature in the three years i'd worked there at that point. There was so much focus on code that we gave almost no time to business requirements.

The wider implication of this was that the number of tickets we got dropped dramatically, because users knew they'd never be resolved anyway.

Balance is key.
