I noticed this myself as I had been using Firefox with ublock to mostly listen to music on youtube.

It seems like there's a sometimes-auto-downgrading where any video above 360 p gets throttled and causes buffering. I've recently been trying out a Chrome extension called Clear Skies which has been working well. It's not an adblocker but it does hide and skip ads and avoids the performance hit that I was seeing previously when viewing youtube with Firefox.

I started using an adskipper Chrome extension called Clear Skies.

I use Firefox and ublock Origin for every other website but I use Chrome/ Clear Skies just for youtube because those dogs are blocking me with Firefox/ublock and even with ublock disabled they are nerfing Firefox by throttling it to make the experience unbearably laggy.

Here's what I do using Chrome (b/c youtube nerfs Firefox by throttling it)

Add these extensions:

Unhook - Hide youtube recommendations and other garbage

Clear Skies - Ad skipper

Ah.. youtube is usable again

You probably already do, but you should use uBlock Origin or the chrome extension Clear Skies to skip ads...... .| .|

Also, get outside more.

My chrome extension Clear Skies is still working as expected so... the weather's still great from my view. :)

I still do.

I just started using a minimal ad skipper chrome extension called Clear Skies and youtube is back to being usable.
