seems like the commit messages lines are in reverse order.

tell me what you did.

then tell me why you did.

leave the saga for the end text so I don't have to read through your musings to get to the meat.

it's a practical guide, not comprehensive -- for most people this is a great start, especially if they are familiar with ASCII

you'll notice I didn't cover collation -- why? because explaining that would dilute process of understand UTF-x and UNICODE

Here is my version of a lisp interpreter in python:

https://github.com/keithgabryelski/plisp

it's not meant to be pythonic -- it's meant to readable and organized

my inspiration was Interpreting LISP by Gary D. Knott written in 1997 (the pdf of it is included in the repository)

I wrote this a while back: https://github.com/fiksu/partitioned supports partitioning in rails.

It's best to start here: https://github.com/fiksu/partitioned/blob/master/PARTITIONIN...

for an overview.

the examples should prove its use.

I just wish they would teach the common curtesy of putting (page#/totalPages) on each slide of their power point presentation so I can decide whether I can make it through the deck or cut my wrists now.

after traveling to London (from Boston) every third sunday night for two and half years (arriving heathrow at ~6am, shower at airport and arrive at work for first meeting), I still could not handle meetings after 3pm (London) on monday -- tuesdays I was right as rain, but i needed a nap at 3pm if I had to be active that night.

The flights home were much easier -- arrive thursday evening, dinner and go to sleep.

rules: don't drink on flights you need to sleep, eat before you get on the plane (eating on the flight is a waste of time) melatonin is your friend.

seems like this would work out well except for every flight i've been on there has been at least one person unwilling to close their damn window shade.

Shameless comment: i'm in that video: https://youtu.be/jvJjFYHGTnU?t=34m29s

The Amiga was a good product, the engineering team was solid: the love for the product did not translate into success.

article seems to suggest we are at the mercy of governments and corporations to do the right thing instead of individuals to protect themselves

in fact, not a single action by an individual is suggested -- only hinting of policy changes

policy is just not enough

one can target specific editors...

for instance, if I know you are using VI I can create a series of characters that will escape out of insert mode and run a shell command (note: ^[ is ESC (ascii 27))

git status

^[

:!echo foo

Comment · 11 years ago
I do this also, although it is only a little safer: if someone added a ^D to the text it could thwart your attempt at protection:

as:

git status

^D

echo foo

You basically need to know three options for tar:

-x EXTRACT -c CREATE -f - USE STDIN/OUT

to create a tar file of the current directory:

tar -cf - . | gzip > /tmp/foo.tar.gz

to extract:

gzip < /tmp/foo.tar.gz | tar -xf -

why tar has all the options was someone's idea they were helping you out -- they weren't

Create is -c --- remember that eXtract is -x - remember that -f - is stdout/stdin depending on your need -- remember that

pipes are your friend.
