oof. even as a bystander i’m feeling the cortisol just reading the questions. i’m curious what even goes into compiling this list of questions - did they plan on going for the kill?

llms / ai have already changed the landscape of tech, it's reaching into almost all industries.

a good comparison is like using a sword vs a gun. ofc in certain scenarios the sword is going to be the right tool / better than a gun. but 99.99% of the time you're gonna want to use the gun and refusing to do so bc it's different or bc you mastered the sword and have some pride isn't going to end well for you.

i find coding agents etc to be really useful and am excited about it. the thing i'm waiting to blow over is for a good work / life / human centric balance to be accepted as the norm. i'm tired of coding agents / ai being the reason behind "if you aren't shipping a critical feature like handling payments in 3 days, you're trash"

i think have a bit of an understanding of where OP is coming from. lately, the grind doesn't stop, and the quality and cost of life are inverting at an alarming pace. and all this time we're being told being the main character means having billions of dollars, be looksmaxxed, have a million friends, and anything less means you're poor and worthless.

this is an incredibly stressful time to be alive. i think i'm moderately ambitious and so i grind at my early stage startup and enjoy the work most days. but sometimes i also think it'd be nice to just have a bakery in a middle-sized town somewhere without thinking too much about politics. and just living my life with its ups and downs, but without the daily / hourly emergencies that come with being on the internet nowadays.

Chariot Claims | Full-Time | Various Staff+ Engineering Roles | REMOTE (US) | https://chariotclaims.com

We recently raised series A and are hiring driven engineers who have strong product sense, leverage AI effectively, communicate well, and want to build technically interesting products that benefit the everyday person.

You'll join as the lead product engineer on greenfield projects that are scoped to take us from 1-100. We're building a verticalized factory for claims. ex:

* agentic legal case origination agent - responsible for validating things like privacy violations, research existing case law to find new cases for us to operationalize

* real-time claims processing - claim quality / fraud detection at scale, harnessing regulatory requirements for novel approaches

and much much more

Chariot Claims is a platform that helps everyday people find, file, and manage legal claims without any hassle. We proactively identify companies accused of breaking the law and violating consumer rights, and fight so they can get the compensation they may be entitled to. We partner with law firms to execute on legal proceedings.

Our team is fully remote, with hubs in Berlin, NY, DC, and (soon) SF. Onsites for the team in the US every ~2 months, and curated offsites in a beautiful location 2-4 times a year with your +1.

yeah and the gap between "use open source" and "use open source as their primary model" is probably p large

honestly just seems like selection bias right? 0% success rate with ai projects, really? based on some of their other about us material it seems like they probably only attract companies that aren't motivated to adopt ai successfully.

i think the gap that needs to be bridged between obsidian and notion is:

obsidian: great for LLMs (local markdown files), bad for collaboration (no multiplayer features like multi editor, comments)

notion: not great for LLMs (network round trips, block-based editing), great for collaboration

i just had to spend a bunch of time (not for work, for hobby purposes) bc broadcom acquired bitnami or something and then decided to kill off the free docker images for various software. very very annoying. can't believe they did this by just yanking the images from the registry too, leaving nodes to fail if they lose their image cache and have to restart

does this mean that 40% of consumers say it's good? or what?

if that is what that means, i would actually say keep improving... since ai is new and there's a lot of mixed feelings about it, it's understandable that sentiment leaks into ai-enabled products.

that being said, there are /a lot/ of ai chatbot product integrations that are actual dogwater and we should not do them. like the stupid amazon integration that is forced upon me that took up like 30% of my screen and straight up just was worthless.

i think the best ai consumer facing workflows you dont actually directly interface with ai via what is expected to be a human interface like chat - it should do processing in the backend, or it supports a human agent.

most-all of the algorithm-served content (not from my friends list) is ad content, even if it's not a meta-served ad.

all content (even those who make legitimate content, if they intend on making a living on content) is just ads packaged in fancy UGC. we've reached a point of no return for ads and user targeting

is this not backwards? salaried employee means you get paid the same amount no matter how many hours you work.
