> my phone only gets internet via a cable connection

Interesting... are you using a particularly old blackberry or PDA? Or is this something you've got your modern phone to use.

Hard to describe the current French government as particularly left wing.

This is an exceedingly dumb tax. A more reasonable tax would be one for storing user data. That would make PII a liability, not something you hold on to forever in hopes of selling to some scammy third party when you fold.

I played this game a lot as a kid (also Biz Tycoon). Very odd game, but I still love the pre-rendered 3D look of games likes these so much.

You say this, but the reaction I get from colleagues is increasingly "why bother training new models when you can just ask an LLM?"

Doesn't matter the domain or the task, the answer from some researchers is "LLM" always.

Sometimes I don't want to take out the stand mixer and just mix things by hand. I prefer to walk to the grocery store rather than take the car. I don't always use a drill where a screwdriver will do.

Same reasoning.

Do people who publish this stuff read this and think "this LLMism sounds good to me"?

It's just muscle memor, I've been using Pandas daily for over a decade, but I'll likely eventually switch over to Polars.

Part of the problem, as I said, is that I'm just spoiled by DuckDB when performance matters.
