Play the market accordingly.

Short the stock at the first available opportunity --- if there is an opportunity.

the AI company disclosed a net loss for the first half of the year of $80 billion, alongside hundreds of billions of dollars’ worth of compute commitments and more than 90 pages of risk factors.

But if you ignore all their expenses and don't count future commitments, they are already profitable.

The really amazing aspect of all this is the number of companies building AI into their operations even though they have no idea what the real, actual cost will be. The only thing they should know is that it will almost certainly be more than they are currently paying.

This could turn out to be the biggest bait and switch in history. Once you've fired lots of employees and you're dependent on AI and their "future commitments" start kicking in, *then* they'll tell you how much AI is really going to cost you.

And they see how it easily becomes a crutch for a lack of understanding or intentionality.

In other words, it "tends to undermine the very process that creates good developers".

The policies, testing and general knowledge of the professionals are part of what's training the AI models

Catch 22 --- The "professionals" need to be replaced in order to justify the cost of AI.

Once this done, where will the general knowledge to train AI come from?

AI is a self degrading feedback loop.

In Mesopotamian narratives Utanapishtim is the Flood Hero, tasked by the god Enki to create a giant ship to be called Preserver of Life in preparation for a giant flood that will wipe out all life.

A lot of religious myths where extensions of prior art --- including resurrection.

In mythology, gods were brought back from the dead long before Jesus' disciples found it necessary to play catch up.

Why are good developers so wary of agentic development?

Perhaps because agentic development is aimed at replacing "good developers".

Agentic development tends to undermine the very process that creates "good developers".

Agentic development will do to software what off-shoring did to manufacturing.

In other words, this story is about as logical as flying reindeer. "Magic" is the only way to explain it.

Unusual tectonic activity may have caused it to release and reabsorb

Not according to the Bible story.

The water all fell from the sky as rain.

And all of it happened (both the release and the evaporation) within 30 days --- otherwise, the animals would have all died from starvation --- which should have happened anyway because after such a massive flood, all the food sources would have been washed away and covered under mud and silt.

Bottom line: This story is about as logical as flying reindeer.

Mt Ararat is 16000 ft above sea level. Where did all that water come from and where did it disappear to?

And how did the kangaroos swim from Turkey to Australia?

At first glance, this looks really impressive.

The current draft, published October 14th, lists six editors: two from Google, two from Mozilla, and two from Meta.

Just follow the money. It explains everything you need to know.

Musk may be a genius but he still does a lot of dumb, juvenile stuff.

Like going out of his way to demonstrate that Starlink can not be relied upon for national security.
