I'd bet this "safety" alarm was minor or bogus, not worth risking lives over.

After learning about a sufficient number of such "accidents" I'm now convinced the cause is never "operator error", it's always a system error. It's the humans that design (or oversee their design and implementation of) those systems that are at fault.

To your point, a contributing factor here was the front train couldn't start due to either a minor or bogus "security" alarm. Whatever alarm that was, it wasn't worth triggering such a tragic accident.

What if, here me out, you got to share in the profits of the companies you buy shares in? Let's call those payments "dividends". Theb it doesn't matter how much shares go up in value.

What are you talking about? I was an employee in 2024 and I was not “screwed”. My options were converted into cash at the same valuation that Google paid (vesting schedule remained intact though). Noam did right by his employees.

It should have suggested using Scheduled Tasks, a feature in ChatGPT to run a prompt on a regular interval. The task can fetch up to date data, then make changes to the site and redeploy. Alternatively, if you make the site full-stack, and use the provided DB, the task can update your site by writing to the db directly or by calling an API endpoint on your site.

You described Bluesky. They did get founded to pursue decentralization, but it's completely ignorable. It largely operated as a centralized service.

I like it when a spinner represents the truth about the state of the value on the server. I want to know when/if it's been updated.

Most of us install Docker just to run a project locally, and is part of a long checklist of things to install. We can't expect everyone to be an expert on the hundreds of apps/tools/packages that get installed on a machine. It's like expected people to read, and understand, all the terms of service shoved in front of us on a daily basis.
