HE ALSO INVENTED THE CHOCKLOCK AND HAS GIANT FLESHY PALMS

(It's terrible what he had to go through, but I'm happy to hear that he's come out the other end happy and healthy. I hope you get to swim in the ocean soon Craig!)

My reputation is 49,636 (I was a relative expert in iOS and git when both technologies were young, and answered a LOT of questions that are still getting upvoted to this day)

My last answer was December 28, 2015, and corresponds pretty closely with me getting a more interesting and engaging job. That, and the two areas I knew well were maturing and there were a lot fewer easy questions to answer.

I don't think AI will be able to sustain cloud compute-size margins. Inference is a commodity and value-adds can't be sold for anything. Why pay for an advanced harness when you can just ask the model to build one for you?

The implication of "witch hunt" is that there isn't really anything to find; authorities are abusing their power to harass someone for political reasons.

Why would a billionaire known for bribing authorities pay Alina Habba $50MM (for no apparent reason) immediately before receiving a presidential pardon? If we continue to let people like this get away with committing crimes right out in the open, we're never going to get back to a world where the rule of law matters.

We can't let accusing your political enemies of a crime as you are actively committing the same crime continue to be a get-out-of-jail-free card. There's no both-sides here. One side is obscenely corrupt, the other is... the best we have at the moment.

I don't want to oppress a people, I want to jail criminals.

I've become a jail maximalist. Everyone who stole government data while working for DOGE? Jail. Everyone who offered a bribe to the Trump administration or accepted a bribe on behalf of the Trump administration? Jail. Everyone from private to general who was involved in murdering all those Argentinian fisherman? A hole in the ground under the jail.

What the LLM vendors are doing seems functionally identical to a paid forger. The forger and the buyer know that it's fake, but anyone else would think it's real.

No, I couldn't claim that and I don't think I did.

I don't understand your argument. Wikipedia and a satirical cartoon are both things clearly not made by Obama, nobody in their right mind would be "fooled" by the presence of his signature.

These cartoons are intentionally drawn in the style of a cartoonist and feature their signature. The goal is forgery. The whole point of these AI-generated images is to look like the real thing.

I've been the person with all those problems.

I prefer my passes live in the Wallet app if at all possible. In addition to just being more reliable, passes can be geo-tagged, so they pop up on your lock screen when you get to your destination. So much more straightforward than hunting for emails / screenshots / etc.

The SVP doesn't need to make any decisions here. Part of leadership is giving your team the space and time to make the decisions themselves.

This sounds like heaven, actually.

I don't care enough about this issue to form any opinions on the impacts to free speech or anything like that, but being able to choose to a social media feed that's entirely from the users I follow would be fantastic. What a dramatic quality-of-life improvement.

The users are the ones manually copy/pasting the password. There's no way the password manager could prevent this short of disallowing copying/viewing passwords.

Two lane roundabouts are fantastic if you’re familiar with the intersection. If you’re not it’s too easy to get shunted out of the roundabout early
