A software engineer during the day, the rest of time an amateur mathematician as the own word says: doing something nobody pays me to do, and something that I love.

Language server protocol is the interface of a software piece that sits between an IDE and a language toolchain so you don't need to change code in the IDE to add support of new languages (you add support on the LSP server). Then server provides things such as completions/intelli-sense, navigation to definitions and some correction checking. From the anouncement TSP extends LSP for better python type awarness.

tnx to carry on. How is the legal shitstorm going? Any foreseeable continuity mid-term of the fork? Something for Firefox to follow links to a private instance? Love rss support.

Probably unscripted improv, and hilarious. Go chino cudeiro!

Yes, missed one I agree. It's natural that social media attract political types, yet Reddit managed to stabulate them and have special interest groups of enthusiasts that avoided that, for example r/ollama or r/musictheory. That could work for Lemmy also, but activity is not near. They are in a chicken/egg situation about volume, maybe we need to start subscribing just out of faith.

I'd welcome a replacement of Reddit (13 year long user here) with comparable traction, now that they are closing RSS access and cornering old-reddit. Sad that few cared there.

People may still be taught that RSS is not an xml protocol that bla bla, but that it is one of the few remaining windows to get content delivered to readership in their own very terms and not in the ones of some pro-enshitification shareholders. There will always be people preaching rss and open platforms, the need is not gone.

Nice, we have some fat problems ahead in this Moore law dying world that need new ideas.

What drove you to an analog computing book, may I ask?

TIL about delay line memory, thanks! Curious idea. Wikipedia says Alan Turing proposed the use of gin as an ultrasonic delay medium :-)

I'm reading and liking his book just called "Trees" (some bites), it is about group actions on trees, written in the '80. It talks about the modular group among others, the tree action also being used in Shai Haran work on the "real" prime (if the AIs let us dream the old way about classic problems). Serre et al graph of groups idea is very categorical. He could well have been present in the very seminars when Grothendiek was breweing what is now called the Grothendiek construction (absurdly, since G was a serial constructor). That wraps that graph of groups thing.

Can you tell something about your tasks? I am pondering both models for cost saving.
