Sounds like a chrome extension. I don't know if there is one that does exactly that

Users don't care and I don't care.

Can I run the app? Can I use the app? Does it do what I need it to do? Do I have a good experience? If yes, then I'm good. I don't care if it's Electron.

Founder in my 40s here. "1 toddler and another child is coming" - Then you want to work one and a half or maybe two jobs? Unless your wife is Superwoman, sounds like a divorce to me. Wait until your kids are in school and more independent. In the next few years, your wife and kids need you. There are plenty of successful founders in their 40s. In fact the average age of the successful founder is 44. Plenty of time! Focus on your wife and kids or you will regret it.

The Great Leap Forward, has nothing to do with the current success in China. That was Mao's project that resulted in tens of millions of deaths. The reason for China's success is all about the economic reforms introduced by Deng Xiaoping in the 1980's. Deng's policies and influence is still relevate in todays China, except Xi Jinping is more hard core than Deng would have liked. Deng in his later years was more of a pragmatic than idealistic, as Deng said: "No matter if it is a white cat or a black cat; as long as it can catch mice, it is a good cat.".

Yes, what's happing in Xinjiang is terrible. But it does not take away from the success of Deng's policies in transforming China. Make no mistake - most Chinese backs the party, even thou they know it has also done some terrible things. They do that because of the financial success of the policies. It's also true, that there is currently no alternative to the party in China. Secondly there are many opinions inside the party both for and against Xi Jinping. It's not black and white.

Give me boring proven technology. I find myself moving away from the latest thing. The lastest thing works great when it works, but when it does not work... Well, then you often have a huge black box of 100K+ lines of Javascript to debug.

That's an awesome story. "Play around more. Discover things." indeed!

Haha that's pretty awesome. I have dedicated this year to simplicity and building my company's new website in Hugo with plain vanilla javascript.

More and more I am going back to simple tools. The simpler the better. I think using a pure text file with the basic GNU command line tools is very powerful and more flexible than anything. Just remember to keep it in git!

Ruby was created in the mid-90s, long before Ruby on Rails became the killer app.

Hong Kong, at least, is Chinese and always have been. The British leased the New Territories(90% of Hong Kong) from the Qing Dynasty. Hong Kong island is the only colonial possession, but it's too small to even fit an airport. So the Brits gave it up.
