It's almost like semantic versioning exists for some reason

Can you recommend any good books on the topic?

So, Coinbase's market makers (possibly itself) are seemingly providing the liquidity for this product. How do they avoid over-exposure if this debit card is successful?

Would you prefer the centralized planning model of waterfall? Of course none of these systems are perfect, but it's been a major step in a better direction for everyone involved.

I think it's likely even. Look at the digital worlds we are creating in games. I find it far more likely we build a simulation more enticing than reality and find ways to leave the confines of our current reality behind. Not too different from what happens with the AI in the movie "Her".

Does gravity propagate at the speed of light? Like, if I were to plop down a planet somewhere in the solar system, would the gravitational effects be immediate or would it take effect at the speed of light? Because if it's immediate, then we should be able to transmit information through gravity waves if we could build a device to detect subtle enough changes.

I, for one, still look up to them. I don't completely understand where the negative views started, but I suspect it was with Facebook, fake news, and the election or maybe the Amazon HQ2 disaster.

Now, for some reason, they are being demonized for being large and participating in a system that has existed for centuries. They got large because they built things people wanted. What's wrong with that? I just don't get it. It's like a mob with pitchforks is forming to break-up "big tech" and they won't be satisfied until they've slayed the giants whether it's justified or not.

Mint is ok, but I feel like there is a gap in the market for budgeting apps. I still have a spreadsheet of general categories like "groceries", "restaurants", "discretionary", and "cell phones/internet" that I prefer to group things into. The way Mint tries to categorize my transactions makes it frustrating to use. They're trying to push users into using their categories instead of letting me create categories and assign my transactions to them.

Yeah, our 2-man devops consulting business was printing money until we tried to scale up. Consulting needs a constant stream of new clients so you need a sales guy, then you need to carry a bench so you can start working on new contracts ASAP, then you need benefits and salaries to attract the kind of senior talent you expect from a consultancy, computers, desks, space...

Do they bring the equipment in and sharpen on-site or do they bring freshly sharpened knives and take the dull ones to be sharpened? Seems like if you had enough initial capital you could buy a ton of new sharp knives, swap them every day, and then spend a whole weekend day doing the sharpening of the knives you rotated out. Then you could keep your 9-5 M-F and make some cash by working a pretty low stress weekend day.

A lot of young people are saddled with student loans that eat into their budgets for things like housing. Obviously a lot of factors at play.

Greenhouse output reduction is an approach that is very obviously failing. It requires too many conflicted parties to align and devote resources.

We have to start viewing climate change mitigation as an engineering problem. We need aggressive investment in carbon and methane capture. If it can't be a profitable endeavor then governments need to make the investment for the public good.
