My local maker space only has fdm. Formlabs claims to have a new line of healthier resins which can be used on non formlabs printers, which had made me curious again about resin.

Thank you. I didn't know that worked.

The chapter house look amazing. I look forward to what the library would look like.

I'm unclear what the open source version from China of a resin printer is. Creatlity and Elegoo don't appear to be at all it as they lock you to the chitubox ecosystem.

What are the open-platform alternatives? I was under the impression that the majority of printers used the CHITUBOX hardware platform internally, which was now locked to the CHITUBOX slicer. Has this changed? That would be wonderful news.

I don't think that Formlabs locks you into their wash and cure stations. Some of their printers lock you into their resin, but it looks like the Form Studio 1 discussed above and the Form 3, 3L, 4, and 4L let you use resin of your choice, although the Studio 1 does require you to buy a special $80 tray.

I think that is more for space/budget reasons than really being a preferred way to work. One thing is handy for is being able to carve something in place though. I saw someone use it to do inlays in the middle of a large plank tabletop that would have required a truly huge CNC machine to be able to hold the plank.

What is the evidence of that? I ask, so that it can be identified on other projects.

What is compelling about Eiffel? Serious question.

The video editing software in the video is SGO Jaleo. I've read about its existence, but I don't think I've ever been able to find a demo of someone using it before, so that was really cool to see. With regard to how the video was captured, there was a Firewire card option for the O2. I believe a number of cheap cards were compatible with the official one. I suspect it would have made capturing harder, not easier, given that they had a VTR with SDI output though.

That was Motif but not CDE. Maybe you were making a statement not directly about the video, I'm not certain. Irix called it the Irix Interactive Desktop.

I did like it. I still do, visually. I don't think I would want to go back to it full time.

I can't get past the paywall, so I don't know exactly what factors this article cites, but usually people cite stress from under-staffing and being over-worked and for hospital workers a rise in workplace violence. For nurses subjected to gig work systems, there is probably also a lot of career uncertainty.

So, I'd propose that the first line of fixes would be: Staff more; Refuse to use nursing gig-work systems; Make health care, especially preventative health care, affordable.

Today, Bitwarden works as the FLOSS extension client/app. Next year, maybe Bitwarden won't be, but we will still have the source for today's code which can be forked and carried forward. I like to think there are enough users behind Bitwarden that a fork would likely work out if it came to that. For that reason I'm not jumping ship yet.

Here are a few things I do: Host static content behind nginx Run filestash as a partial GoogleDrive replacement (I use it for sharing files with other people, like deliverables), files place on an S3 compatible object store. Run vaultwarder for myself and some family members. Run a container registry service backed by an s3 compatible object store. Run a django web application I wrote for my own use. However, it stores to postgresql running in a different VPS. Run caddy for ssl termination and reverse proxying the other services running here. Redis (I forget if that was for filestash or the container registry, but can be configured to be very light weight).

All of those are in different containers running through podman.

qBittorrent is still on SF and seems to be more popular in terms of downloads over the prior week, and also looks after with a release earlier this month.

Skipping past two projects that consist of repackaging existing projects, or a corporate project that I suspect uses SF only for distribution, the next large community project is CrystalDiskInfo, with a release earlier this summer.

Apache OpenOffice is still popular, but doesn't look particularly active.

Then we have KePass followed by Ventoy.

Even when they are active projects, and maybe not even all that old, they feel like they have a vintage feel to them. Part of me wonders if it is using SF that makes it feel that way, but when I look at the home pages for some of these projects that have their home page off SF, they still have that vintage/old school feel.
