I find it odd that people put "decentralized" currency into a centralized wallet

Ethics is taught. Directly or indirectly (i.e. environmental/cultural). Also for some, a loss of an employment has significantly higher consequence than others.

If you take these into consideration then it makes sense why one would make such choice. Whether they are aware of building an evil device is irrelevant at this point -- they're making best choice for themselves and their family. Employers love employees who follows orders so they'll craft environment where only those kinds of employees would survive.

IMO this isn't really the problem between employers and employees. They are doing what the system incentivizes them. It's the regulator's role to govern to protect individuals.

The irony is U.S. allows lobbying and SuperPAC which essentially makes the system in favor of those with money.

competition. that's good for consumers.

though problem with proprietary LLMs it's difficult to know if the vendor's supposed "optimization" affects performance negatively because it's difficult to define an SLA

Right. Also once it's installed , rules might change unnoticed. It's difficult to enforce long term and requires very high degree of trust.

I'm certain if I drew a cartoon and used the signature that looks just like a real cartoonists', I would get sued and liable for the damage.

The same should apply to LLM vendors.

Hrm. I can play it without logging in

I wonder how much this relates to existence of Super PACs and lobbying in US.

If campaign spending is strictly regulated, I imagine it would be difficult for such work.

Average person believe what they see and hear.

Each group is exposed to different media, thus the polarization.

Current administration knows this very well

I agree that it's misleading but harness is now an essential part of LLM's effectiveness. It's safe to assume that LLM-alone-AGI is not coming anytime soon, given most of the frontier LLM vendors are developing their own harness.

Also the training dataset is proprietary and they'll drive the LLM's behavior, so it make sense for the vendors to invest in the harness and bake in prompts that work best with their models.

The concerns are legitimate but the proposals are nothing more than a stopgap solution.

If US wants to maintain engineering superiority, we needs to invest in it -- education, research and infrastructure. Bring in top researchers across the globe and not make it harder.

China is building infrastructure for the future generations and investing in growth sectors while the US is cutting of university grants and spending billions on a war without clear path to resolution.

> During the questioning, agents repeatedly asked Tunick to unlock his phone and warned they would seize it if he refused. When he finally provided a passcode, the phone appeared to restart.

I'm confused to understand if Tunick did anything illegal here. If the authorities want the phone, they should have the warrant and seize it without Tunick's permission.

It appears authorities did not have the warrant which give Tunick all the right to do whatever he desires with his property.

What am I missing here?
