the story of the constantinople riots is really interesting. A foolish treaty established this unequal relationship between constantinople and venice that would later indirectly lead to the destruction of the empire through the fourth crusade and the weakening of the trade rights of its own citizens. The emperor who made that treaty was equally desperate and stupid.

there is absolutely nothing wrong with the commie blocks we have in Bulgaria other than the need to fix the facade. They are extremely cheap to mass manufacture, build and also they easily can last 100 years with enough living space for everyone. This already works, it's just not done due to regulations in many countries.

I had an interview with a startup, completely owned the questions on the technical interview. When time came for the 1 - 1 interview with the CTO I had luck to ask them about their growth rate and investors. No regrets.

bike thefts happen in the Netherland (once I saw a 50+ year old guy walking around inspecting bikes in a student neighbourhood + multiple bike thefts in that area). Also in Bulgaria where I am from :) but I can't say where it happens more or what the chances are.

That's OK, I'm quite frugal, don't mind travelling with public transport. Even if you save 50% of that it's already enough for me.
