this is my main blocker to Jellyfin too. if it were just me, no problem. but my (divorced, over 60y/o) parents and my sister's family use my plex too. each of them has some mix of LG, Samsung, Roku, Android, and Apple devices. they all live half way across the country.

every time i've checked in with Jellyfin, the ecosystem has been way too fragmented to consider migrating.

Carney and his diplomats have been having high-level talks along these lines with a bunch of EU member states for the last few months at least. That's atypical even. WSJ quoted French diplomats as essentially saying, "this is moving very quickly all of a sudden".

Carney and von der Leyen haven't really talked about what this would mean but it seems safe to assume that they (plus leaders of the major EU member states) have been talking about it, at least in broad strokes.

more than a half dozen Canadians have already competed in Eurovision, including one winner (Céline Dion). has Australia ever won?

I'd get a foldable if the "exterior" screen was eink (and it didn't cost $1500+)

I went back to school recently to get a degree after 20yrs in the industry. It's hard to overstate how helpful it is to able to open ChatGPT and ask "ok but why?" ad infinitum like children do.

"the perfect slice, every time" is a solved problem: https://youtu.be/1OfxlSG6q5Y?si=xXZJalyPrQggC1xo

butter application is still unsolved AFAIK, though I'm sure there's a robotics company out there hard at work on it.

I've had nothing but trouble with Qwen on opencode. GLM too. I know a few people who use them on Ollama could without issue though, so I don't think it's a model issue.

one thing I enjoyed about The Children of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky: the spiders learned to build "computers" out of ant colonies by hijacking the ants ability to generate and respond to chemical stimuli.

not that it makes me believe in the silurian hypothesis, but i'm always reminded of that whenever i start to think "well it couldn't possibly be done any other way".

I'm not a lawyer, so grain of salt, but I'd imagine the courts would still view those purchases to have been made by Apple since they would be for the benefit of Apple, not the hypothetical Apple Europe.

think of it this way: a US company is caught doing business with a company wholly owned by a sanctioned individual. say the us company argued "we weren't doing business with Pavel Sanctionovich, we were doing business with Pavel S. Inc., a UK company that just happens to be owned by Pavel.", would the courts accept that?

neat idea but the pay-to-win aspect kind of kills any pretense of this being about the prompt.

it's pretty much guaranteed that the winner will be someone using fable or sol and the budget to let it churn for hours on end.
