I'm open to a special tax on A.I. companies that hedges against a bailout. Safety nets are important, and I think we should normalize a socialist outlook on economic losses so long as we can also socialize the gains.

yeah, I honestly just feel bad for him. I have it easier, but he's going to school, working, holding down a leadership position in an engineering club. He's living his best life, so I can't feel too bad, but he deserves a break from the cost of living.

*edit: they're not in a _high_ cost living area, but it's not cheap either.

yeah, one-shot (medium-large) builds just don't seem to give me good results yet. I use them now for small examples though, e.g. for visualizing a process. Most recently I used it to visualize neural networks, and how convolution works. That might not be something most people need, but it really helped me.

a friend showed me their budget recently, and about 45 hours of their wages go to rent each month (for a single room in a house with roommates). That seems very high to me, and their rent is considered "low" in their area (a small suburb)

As someone from that region, this is probably a good idea for all parties, right now. I'm not fond of our current trajectory, and the outside pressure to change isn't sounding unreasonable.

I do tend to disclose my use of AI, but at the same time I don't feel like I'm required to. I'm doing it to signal that my use of AI was productive, and of value to people beyond myself.
