I used to solve hardcore problems, now I just talk to Claude and try to dodge layoffs left and right.

Thanks, number of incidents and rollbacks is interesting, whats the field, how many customers?

PRs merged and reviewed is a bit of a joke :)

Technology, including LLMs is a tool, without agency of its own, as such it's netheir intrinsically good or bad. What defines that is the entity with agency, despite what labs would have you think this is still employees, corpos and governments.

Imagine for a moment star trek like society where one needs not toil for corpos to have their basic needs met. In such a scenario is better LLM good or bad? Would you fight to go back to cubicle then?

I posit we should not scrutinize technological progress itself or try to resist it's adoption, but rather look at people who shape the policies around it and how our society is structured, which is politicians and to larger extent us who live in democracies around election time.

In fact, I believe we should accelerate AI adoption in order to emphasise the impacts of the disruption and shortcomings of current societal structures and norms thus shortening the Unstable Era ushering a new AI driven heaven on earth...

... or we all just get marched into the recycling vats, it's a coin toss at this point I guess...

> All metrics are up.

Kindly enumerate the metrics.

"All metrics is up" is a message The Communist Party approves wholeheartedly. 5 year plan delivered in 1 year, give this comrade a medal! anyone?

> Unless AI automates SWE completely. Which I don't think will happen. If AI is that powerful, it would be a completely different world.

This is stated main goal many are persueing at this point.

It's a choice, if you want social status you need to participate in the dance. I haven't made the rules .

You'll be put in a box with the rest of the worker bees, useful for the time being, but not sophisticated enough and able of displaying higher behaviours and definitely not worthy elevating into the inner circle.

good observation, it also cant produce flux capacitors of acceptable cochrane factor, quite puzzling

Is it ok to send DMs to your side piece when your partner is away?

Employer relationships are not much different, if you choose to do it, do it on the sly or suffer the consequence ;)

If you are a contractor (bachelor) situation may be different...

right, but what I mean more specifically is AI assisted or conducted interviews and specifically in the EU, which is notoriously behind US on tech adoption.

I would say hiring is picking up now at least in europe. partially driven by re-arming and deep tech efforts.

think we gonna see a lot of AI interviews very soon, which I think is a bit meh, but probably better than what we had before with grinding leetcode, which is a complete waste of time.

Anything in physical world, digital is lost forever..

Robots will eventually encroach on physical too, then the subset will shrink to "physical world with required human interaction".

For me the question now is whether we will ever get a place where humans will prefer to interact with embodied AI robots over other humans.

My read is that If your codebase needs a lot of unsafe - on intersection of hw, need a lot of memory allocations with custom memory allocators, can take advantage of comptime, using a lot of c dependencies anyway. Maybe zig makes sense? It's a very niche space.

Arch for last 5 years, never had issues, but I also buy laptops specifically with Linux support.

Pompous and full of air really sums it up well. As such I usually have to completely ignore and rework generated README / code comments.

Is this just an elaborate scheme to increase in/out token churn or are we hitting some kind of LLM limitations I wonder?

Code was garbage before AI, now it's still garbage, but I don't have to take it out anymore. Amazing.

Juniors are doomed, nobody is writing anything ever again by hand.
