Not as simple as that. Some people clearly manage to create things effectively with it. Newcomers can see this but understand that there will be difficulties.

The difficulty for newcomers is anticipating where the pain points might be. Detailed articles like this are rare and a huge help with assisting with decisions on whether to invest time into it.

Odd example; Butterknife greatly reduces boilerplate around accessing views in Android. Why wouldn't you use it?

Don't you use Retrofit for your network API code?

I have a script on AWS which scrapes the UK National Rail website for my commute every few minutes between set times in the morning and afternoon, and sends me a Slack notification if there are delays or cancellations.

I could check manually but train problems are actually infrequent enough that I usually don't bother, although they are highly disruptive when they do happen.
